From another post it now seems that it's nearly impossible to put the Monty 6 back into the wheeled bag....

Anyone got any tips for this ? (2006 bag appears to be smaller ?).

Also, I put the tent up at the weekend, but being a bloke didn't read the instructions until afterwards.... Are the poles and sleeves colour coded, or are they all identical and interchangable ?

Well on the Outwell site the instructions say that the Montana poles and sleeves ARE colour coded.  My Monty 12 is definitiely not.  There is no colour on the poles at all, and all the sleeves are the same colour.  It may well be different for the 6 and 4.

The bag is a total pain in the bum.  I have managed to get it back in but with a great struggle.  It makes me laugh watching the Outwell video on their website when they fold it at the end with the bag already for it to go into.  I really would love to challenge those people to come camping with me and do it that easy with my Monty 12 2006, especially when there has just been a downpoor.

I am currently sourcing a 2005 Monty 12 bag for mine.  I have emailed OASE and am waiting for a reply to see if they have any in stock and the price.  I will post on here when I find out.

The other thing I worry about with the wheeled bag is that the wheels will definitiely break one day ( they arn't very strong ).  When they do, it is going to be a real pain to carry the tent being as there is now no shoulder strap and just a handle at each end.  The wheeled bag looks excellent on paper ( I thought it was a great idea ).  That was until the first time I had to get the tent back into it.  Very badly designed.  I have been out on 4 trips now with it and struggled everytime.  Yesterday I had a few goes in the garden at getting it neatly and easily back in the bag and so far I cannot find a single easy method.  When its wet then forget it completely.  I have currently got it back in the bag but it is bulging everywhere and I just know the zip is going to give way.

We put up our montana for the first time on Sunday.We just managed to get it into the bag.You need to bring the two sides into the middle and then fold in half again,get as much air out as possible by leaving main door open and rolling as tightly as you can.

The poles seemed to be identical to us,

I manage to get it in the bag with a struggle ( Montana 12 ) except when it is wet.  The first 3 times after a few attempts we managed to ram it into the bag but with a lot of strain on the zip ( not sure of the difference in bag size between the Montana 6 and 12. In the shops they look the same size but with the actual Montana 12 being a little bit bigger in material ).  The biggest problem arises if you have to pack the tent away wet.  The extra bulk of the water makes it nearly impossible to get it neatly into the bag.  I ended up having to try and dry it and then it rained again before we tried again.  Eventually we just rolled it up and put it into the boot of the and put the bag seperately.  I took it home and dried it out and it again went back into the bag ( again with a struggle ).  If they had made the bag just a little bit bigger it would have made all the difference.

Just had a look at the Outwell website and the pack sizes are the same.  I guess it is the same bag for the Montana 6 and Montana 12 with different writing on.  But the Montana 12 has a little bit more material than the 6.

Fold it, whatever, way to a width a few inches short of the bag length. Fold 18" over, then fold that as tight as you can, you literally have to sit on it. Then start rolling but keep it very tight as you roll. When you get towards the end its a case of stopping and sitting on to expel any air. We can fit our tarpaulin, (used underneath to protect the SIG) inside the bag of our Montana 6 as well. A couple of ratchet tie downs might help to squash it further...

Had another go in the cold light of day... Easy-peasy !

Make sure bedroom doors undone before you collapsee the tent.  Make sure entrance doors are partly undone, to allow air escape.  Fold it in half width-ways (i.e. the shortest bit!).  Then fold that part into 3.  Roll it tightly from the bedroom end (helps if someone is ahead of you moving the air along).  Unroll, then re-roll.  Sit on the roll to get the last air out. 

Fits straight into the bag!

Just like to add that the monty 4 comes in the same size bag as the monty6, We did the old stuff it in the boot trick. 3 days later when the guy ropes had finally dried, we rolled it from the inner tent to the door end to let the air out, then just about managed to get it back in the bag, It is in the hallway now and at any minute, i am half expecting the zip to burst and spill it's tenty contents all over the floor.

So if i struggeled to get the monty 4 into the bag you people with 6's must be miracle workers.

I also agree with the bag thing, the wheels are great but how about a strap that you can actully put it with.

I am currently scowering the shops looking for plastic box with lid big enough to fit tent in and then the bag will be straight in the bin.
