Hi we are considering buying a proaction arizona from argos, was just wondering if anybody has this tent or could maybe comment on it.

It has a hydrostatic head of 2000mm is this waterproof ok? and how would the shape of the tent stand up to wind?

We are looking for a three bedroom tent around  £150 to replace our freecamp auckland.

Final question would it damage  polyester pu coated tent to apply " wax" or extra water proofing.

many thanx

No get something else. The pole 'holder' snapped, a pole and the zip went. Argos 'dont do repairs'. Great tent size wise bit like vango aspen i think. Go for a company with a repair service and great customer service.

Hi & welcome to the forum

First of all, 2000 hh is the minimum you should consider for British summers   You wouldn't damage a synthetic tent by using waterproofing stuff, but you don't need to add waterproofing to synthetic tents, only to canvas fabric.

You'll get loads of recommendations for three bedroom tents from members of this forum, all of them talking from experience. I love our canvas frame tent, but maybe a frame tent is too bulky for you to consider. I'm sure someone will be along soon with some suggestions for a suitable synthetic tent

Hi

How about:

Vango TBS Vista 600 DLX for £200? or

Vango Aurora 800 DLX again £200. Only 2 bedrooms but both very large and could probably get a dividing curtain to split one in two. or

Royal Tolouse 9 for £160.

Never used any of these, but all good makes and heard good things about them on this site.

Also look here, factory seconds, good prices again as recommended by fellow UKCSers on many occasions. e.g Campus Breckenridge Deluxe for £170.

Or here
and look under product overview then special offer tents.
Great bargains, like a Coleman Columbia 10 for £130 or even a Sunncamp Tourist 12 XP (5 bedroom) for £195. Again, only had recommendations from others here on these tents, we have Colemans and like them very much. Also used this site for our overnight tent, the bispace. Great service.

For more info/recommendations on any of these tents or sites, use the search link at the top of the page.

HTH

Pauline

upate lol

On advice we dint buy the argos tent, it worries me to buy a tent and not be able to view it before hand ( as we did with our last tent ), we visited go outdoors in Newport Telford (mere park garden centre) and on advice purchased a litchfield araphaho 6 for £129.99

It only has two rooms but it has heaps of living space.

Thanx for all the information and advice we received from everyone, this is a very friendly and useful site

Forgot to mention about the freecamp aukland,

the design was great very stable in high wind, bedrooms good size, great size living area and reasonable straightforward to erect although no instructions!!

The bad points we found were the ground sheet seemed the wrong size for the tent, despite every effort when errecting we couldn't get rid of the large gap around the bottom of the tent.

The tents only real down size is its water proofing (alleged hydrostatic head of 1500mm) ours started to leak in that fine rain (the one that soaks you through! lol) I wouldn't like to trust it in a hard downpour.

My chums are only planning a couple of weekend trips in the best of the weather so I'm sure it will fit their needs.

Thanks for the advise!

hi wo mama and poppa i bought a pro action tundra tunnel tent last year of a friend of a friend for 80.00 quid retailing then for about 150 used it about 3 times the only thing i found disapointing about it was theres big gaps around tent of about 6 inches in certain places , if its windy you get the draft blowing in also if it rains it used to let a bit of rain in , nothing to worry about so this time im going for the vango venture 500 2006 model with sown in groundsheet

I also have the pro action tundra 9 berth tunnel tent, we found it great and it was only £99.99 in sale saving us £50, as mentioned by stewey, the gaps around tent aren't a problem as long as you pitch on flat ground. We can't wait til end of May for our first camping trip of 2006.
