We're a family of 4 and looking to buy our first family tent ( have done camping before - before sprogs) we've been doing the "tent viewing" thing and would like to see the Outwell Nebraska range......anyone know where they might have these on show ???

anything within reasonable travelling distance of Cambridge would be great !!!

Many thanks & hope to see you all in the near future ( on a campsite with a pub, that is)........

We've travelled to Taunton to see a nebraska xl on display and we loved it! It ticks all the boxes for us(except the weight!) and it is the only one we've seen that we all liked and could see ourselves camping in. I searched for local dealers on the OUTWELL website and then phoned around to see who'd got one on display. It was worth the hours journey!   Our only concern is how long it takes to put up - anyone done it recently who could give some advice and also is it too big for a weekend?

I havn't put one up myself but seen it being done twice by staff.  It took the 2 of them around 40 minutes.  This was for display purposes so add a few more minutes on to make sure everything is adjusted etc.

I love the Nebraska XL and it was a hard choice for us between the new Montana 12 2006 ( we had last year's Montana 12 ) or the Nebraska XL.

We chose the Montana purely because we wanted the extra bedroom space and also size.  We don't always use our utility tent so the Montana allowed us to go on slightly smaller pitches.  Also, we cook in our utility tent and would be a bit scared cooking in the porch area of the XL in case it got ruined which in turn ruins the whole tent.  Also, the Montana I can put up on my own ( not that I have to very often ), the Nebraska I couldn't.

But it was a very hard choice for us, and every time I see an XL I still wonder whether I made the right choice or not.

Thanks Caz, we managed to track one down today, (Crowland Caravan & Camping centre, near Peterbough if any when else is looking). Same as you, it did it for us except the weight, as we are a family of 3 stroke 4, depending if the eldest is with us. If it going to be just the 3 of us then the XL seems a bit excessive, where a Montana 6 with a canopy will probalby do the job for weekends etc, with an aditional smaller tent for the kids when both are with us.

This brings up another question, do sites charge extra for an additional kids tent on the same plot?

Also another option, is it posible that there is an anexe of some kind that could attach to one of the side doors of the Montana 6, to give another room when needed !!, that we be great for us. Any body know of such a thing?

We bought the Nebraska XXL, we haven`t used it yet though as it was a recent purchase but we are trying it out for thr first time next weekend. We will be using it for weekends and main holidays as we like our space.

As for the weight, as I said in another forum my OH says it`s no more heavier than carrying an extra person in your car.

Some sites do charge extra for a small tent for the kids and some don`t, best to just ask the camp site concerned.
