Well after alot of talk and comparisons, we have finally made the decision and bought the Montana 6 with the canopy which we are really pleased with now cant wait to go, although first trip isn't planned untill whitsun where we are off to sandford , somewhere near poole i think.

however my question is we are thinking of going to scotland during the summer holidays but are not sure of the best time to go to avoid being bitten to death by the midges, any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks again to everyone for the help on tents.

Enjoy your Monty, we bought ours last year and had a great time in France in it.

Went to Sandford years ago, and I mean years!  Must have been about 28 years ago and even then it was very commercialised and busy so I dread to think what it is like now!  Of course lots of people like sites like that, not criticising it at all, just recalling my memories of it.  We resorted to Pear Trees, just down the road, because it was quieter.

I think the midges are worse in July and August from what I have read, I remember my tent being black with them one August.  People swear by one of the Avon skin products, skin so soft woodland or something like that for warding them off, according to this forum anyway!

Have a great time.

Ali
