Is early August too late in the season to get  a good price for a second hand tent?

I am supposed to be selling our Montana 6 now as it is really and truely too big for us this year  but it is a very comfortable tent.... So I am wondering about keeping it to use for our main holiday at the end of July and selling it as soon as we get back. But would the market for pre-loved tents already be dropping off by then? Anybody got any ideas? MT

I wouldn't have thought so MT, at least I hope not as I am planning to sell the Napoli in July/August.  I would expect that the price wouldn't be as good as if you were selling it in say June as some people would have already taken their main holiday.

We have just sold our Montana 6 so that we could upgrade to this years model.  We got £225 for it which seams to be what most people are getting for theirs (ebay etc) You probably won't get as much toward the end of the season - but it all depends on how much you want for it i suppose

The other thing to remember is that by then, a lot of places would have run out of stock of the the Monty.  I remember last year that by July/August time there were loads of requests as to 'Where can I get a Monty'.

Traditionally by August the demand has dropped off a little because as has already been said some people by then have already had their holiday. By Sept you'll be into the main camping shops end of season sales. Easter or just after is probably one of the best times to sell - the pre-season sales are over, folk have maybe seen the nice weather & want to get out, or indeed have already been out at Easter and have found they need a bigger tent or have suffered some weather damage so need to replace their tent. And you're coming up to the May-day bank holiday & the really big gettaway the Spring/whitsun bank holiday, which also encompasses National Camping Week (when the C&CC encourage as many as poss to get out there & attempt to break the world record for max no. of people camping).
