Does any one know if there is any difference between the sunncamp sun canopy for the haven 800 and the outwell side canopy? if you look at the sunncamp brochure, and the outwell web site, they seem remarkably similar in the photos !!! Are they made by the same sub contractor?

They do look very similar but I don't think they are exactly the same.

You probably could but would it be worth it, The sunncamp canopy is £75 and you can pick up an Outwell one for alot less than that.

We dont think there is much difference in price, but I read some where on this site thta outwell have stopped making theirs, if this is the case then we thought we could use the sunncamp instead (under the canopies subject)

Well, If outwell aren't making em any more there still seem to be alot of places with them still in stock and they are still showing them as a current seasons item of the Outwell website and you can pick them upbrand new on ebay for around the £60 mark

Hope this is the case, I notice that you have a monty 6 with front and side canopies, and having looked at monty 12's & nebraska Xl, we are now thinking along the lines of a monty 6 with front and side canopies, with an aditional small tent for the kids when the eldest decides to join us, perhaps butted up aginst the side canopy like an annex.

Question is would this work, also would sites charge extra for this

We've never been charged extra for the side and front canopys anywhere we have camped, but you would certainly get charged extra for a pup tent.

We use the froont canopy so that we can have the large front door open all day even if it's raining and we use the side canopy to cook under.

If you really wanted to push the boat out (and you would probably defo get charged extra on sites for this) you could also but an Oklahoma Green day room and use it like a communal living/eating area between your two tents and it would match your Monty a treat.

We're off camping next weekend with some friends and between the three familys we have a Mony 12, a 6 and 2 x monty 4s, we have three outwell windbreaks, an outwell Oklahoma dayroom, two outwell chairs and a couple of outwell lights and other bits n bobs.  If I remember I'll take the campera and take a picture because it really fdoes look like Outwell has thrown up on us when we camp

We got our last weekend for£58.00 from mickley camping on tyne

saw on here that for monty 12 we have to change guy line to 4meter instead of the 3 meters that they come with because of the size of the monty.Outwell now call it universal side canopy.

I'm not 100% certain if you need to change the guy lines on the new canopies produced this season but I'm pretty certain our mate had to put longer guys on his which he originally bought for his Colorado 8 and now uses on his Monty 12.  I look at it this way, for the sake of a couple of quid for some longer guys it'll make getting them over thent easier if nothing else with the extra length and I'm all for an easy life.

Oh, and another good tip for anyone who wants a quick and easy way to get the guys over your tent is to hokk/tie them to one of those rubber woven multicoloured dog balls as this adds a bit of weight and gives you something more natural feeling to throw over the tops of your tent.  Just make sure your unsuspecting other half isn't in the firing line when you do
