We have decided to go EHU this year so earlier this week we went out and bought the Sunncamp 3 plug EHU, we unpacked it today to try it out but all the sockets are vertical therefore the cable prevents the socket lid below opening.Unsure whether to return this or are they all like this please help..

Ours is like this too. I think they all are. We get round it by plugging in the less flexible leads in the lower socket and the bendier ones towards the top.

I'd rather be camping

There are 2 types of these.  One opens sidways and the one you have opens up/down.  The up/down ones can be quite restrictive on some items like mobile phone chargers etc.  On the Sunncamp ones I think you are able to turn them around if you have a screwdriver handy as the sockets are square.  Some, like the one I have, you cant.  They are both as good as each other in the way they work and we have 3 sets of these with 2 being the sideways ones and one being the up/down one.  The up/down ones like yours tend to be more common.  Whenever I look round camping shops most seem to have the up/down ones like yours.

We didn't have problems with our Sunncamp one when we used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Had 3 sockets in use.

I Do have a question tho. Is there any danger/ risk in turning the sockets round? Surely they would make them like that if it was so easy???

Like I have said several times on this subject. Yes it can be done.

You need to drill new fixing holes.

I've also said before that the build quality on some of these imported EHU's from countries where they DON'T EVEN USE  13Amp plugs (explains the poor orientaion of the sockets)  leaves alot to be desired. The number of these things that have been mass produced you would have thought that they would have got it right by now!

To be honest I would rather trust my own build EHU (Made to the same spec with RCD /MCB etc. Than one put together in China by some thick assembly worker who knows absolutly nothing about electrics!

Happy Camping Frank & Kathy
