We are thinking about trading in our Khyam Horizon for a Outwell Hartford XL and were wondering if any UK Campsite colleagues would be willing share their experiences - good and bad - of the Hartford with us before we take the plunge.
Additionally, if anyone has any other suggestions for a 6 person tent with good headroom and integrated groundsheet we would be very interested in hearing your views. One last thing, where is the best outlet to look at tents in person in the London and the South East?
Hi Nelmaz, we too looked at the hartford xl for the 3 bedrooms, however we decided on the Montana 6 only 2 rooms but the headroom is great. We also found a great place to look at the tents pitched we went to DW Camping on the A259 Bognor Road, they must have had at least 60 on display and we cant fault tha help we were given, although they didn't have the hartfords on display we eventually found these displayed at frensham garden centre. Had our Hartford for three years now and almost bought the Montana this year, but settled for the Porch. Great Tent for the money, but the bedrooms are not as roomy as the Montanas
We too looked at Hartfords and Montanas but yesterday took the plunge and went for the Outwell nebraska xl instead - 8 person tent with massive porch and 2 x 4 birth inners both of which can be divided if needed. We decided on this for 4 of us (2 adults & 2 boys almost teenagers) as the boys wanted their own space but didn't want to sleep alone in pup tents. If they had it would have been the Montana 6 for sure.
There are just the 2 of us a a 6 year old daughter, but we often haveday visiting friends and overnighters so we needed lots of space. We use the 2 pods for bedrooms and the third for storage.
It seems very stable, especially with the Delta pegs we just got. Couple of weeks ago we were on a site where 2 tents collapsed over night in a gale and we were snug as bugs!
The design has changed on the 2006 version, not sure if exactly same size, I'm sure it'll still be good tho.
Good luck in your choice!
