has anyone on here heard of karsten tents we are thinking of inveating in 1 as they have no poles all you do is inflate them so no broken poles in the gale force winds that destroyed our other tent would be greaeful of any advice thankyou
Sounds ok but would it not get flattened in a strong wind? OK it would pop back into shape but could be a little scary at night time. I'm now off to try and find one to look at on the web.
Oh, I`ve seen these a couple of times when camping in France. I always wondered if they were real vintage tents like the old inflatable Igloos or a new varient. Now I know. They do have poles as well, you know. Only the main dome is inflatable. The extra hoops are supported by ordinary poles.
Are they expensive? Is the canvas cotton (the two I saw were) or some synthetic?

Ah I remember those - used to be available from the cigarette coupon catalogues! (don't ask me why I remember that 'cos I've never smoked). Think I only ever saw one on site.
Actually I think the Karsten may be a direct decendant of that original Igloo as I think the co. may have bought the design or is in some way decended from the original manufacturer. I'm sure there's some connection.
im not sure what there made of but ive ordered a brochure just waiting for it to come through and so are the kidsim hoping it will be here tomorrow then i can let you know the prices i hope
I don't really know too much about 'Karsten' tents, apart from the fact they have a first class reputation and a price tag too match!... They are made in Holland and you can more or less buy to your own specification, from their huge range...
I think a company in Norfolk 'Camping Direct' are the sole British agents...
just recived the brochure today the price tag is very nice i dought you will get 1 of these of ebay second hand that is great idea must say as you can add on and take off suit our needs but i dont think this life time
There was one on ebay a while back i think it went for about £80 but it was an older version, its only the newer ones which are so versatile and mix and match I believe someone was selling one in the ads section a while back too might be worth a look.
If were ever in Norfolk i intend going to have a good look at them I,m very intrigued.
