Hi all,

What a brill web site......

After not having camped for the past 10-12 years, we are after some advice, and hope that some of you out there can help?

After a lot of deliberation, tent hunting and wanting to start camping again, we have just purchased the Kyham Brekenridge de luxe, as we saw it on display among other tents in the Farnham area, and thought what a wicked tent.

Question's are as follows :

Is this a good purchase with 2-4 adults and 2-3 kids?

How long would this tent on average take to erect/pack away? (not yet been out of the bag)

We have the tent, but now need to know where the best places are to obtain the other essential bits and pieces?

Where are all the good friendly camp sites these days, and what should we expect to pay per night per pitch?

Any reply no matter how small would be great..

Cheers.

Hi Stumpy,  welcome to the site. I don't have any experience of this tent myself but there are lots of members here who have. use the yellow search button at the top of the page, put the tent name in and select tent talk, there are plenty of previous discussions about the breckenridge.

When you have decided what area you want to visit, the campsite search button at the top has reviews from members who have visited the sites, not just the owners websites, so they are a great source of info.

The equipment section on the message board is also full of recommendations, about whats good and whats not.

Hi we have this tent and have 2 kids aged 12 and 3. It is a great choice of tent as has loads of space, we love it. It is a bit tricky to put up, first time took us 2 and a half hours but now get it up in about 1 hour depending on the ground, whether the pegs go straight in or not. A bit of advice in the instructions it tells you to put the 3 main poles in first which we do, but it then tells you to put the bedroom poles in we dont do this till we have the tent up as it makes it quite difficult. After putting your first 3 main poles up, get someone to go inside and lift the tent up while someone puts the 3 poles into correct place, this definately helps otherwise you will be there all day. Once you have done that then you can put the bedroom poles in. Bit tricky to get it up in the wind as it is so large it takes off nearly. But brilliant tent once up. As for getting it back in the bag it does go you just have to fold and fold and fold and sit on it a few time. We got all our other camping stuff from camperlands really good prices and quality stuff. Have fun. Enjoy

hi Stumpy

I have just bought this tent myself i have put it up twice now and it took me just under the hour to put up and about 1/2 hour to get it down. I love this tent already i found that my local camping shop was very reasonable for all the bits and pieces and couldnt find them much cheaper anywhere else including ebay.As beefysmum said this websites campsite search is fantastic.
