A friend is about  to buy a tent pack from Halfords, 3 man tent, double air bed, two mummy sleeping bags and a light for £60, seems like a good buy to me, does anyone have any experience of Halfords tents, are they any good.

Hi Cathie

We bought a Gelert family Dome Tent from Halfords a couple of years ago to get us into camping, simalr deal to your friend.  It was great realy got us started.  The only problem we found was with the sleeping bags they were fine for the kids but my husband and I both had to upgrade, which was no problem with Halfords they even ordered a very large one in for my husband as he is 6ft 4ins.  We have now bought a Gelert Lokon Vario 6 Tunnel Tent need extra space.

Tell your friend to go for it

Would agree with the comments above, we bought our first tent from Halfords and we haven't looked back.

Gelert tents are quite good quality and have a lot of support on these pages.

I bought a 2 man Halfords Malvern in their end of season sale last year for 12.50.

The tent is a Gelert but badged under Halfords name.

The same tent with Gelert stamped on it I couldn't find for any less than 30.00.

Nothing wrong with Halfords tents other than you tend too pay over the odds at this time of year there again that can be said of all retailers I suppose

I'd no more buy a tent from Halfords than I would buy a pushbike from Vango.

Would you not buy a pushbike from Vango even if it was made by Saracen or GT etc? Halfords have some great deals at times - I bought my sleeping bags from there last yeat at £17 each. Proper decent Gelert ones that cost a lot more elsewhere.

Good point

Our first tent was a spur of the moment buy in Halfords, a Gelert Cadiz 5.
