Nail it down hard enough and you`ll do better than folk with sturdier tents but half the guylines still tied up.

Actually, the first thing that folk often do with an unusual tent is come over to "lend a hand", otherwise known as having a nosey at it. So it could turn out to be an asset.

Ruth

I don't profess to be an expert but still can't resist offering advice. We used to camp in hubby's 2 man tent in younger more carefree days, have just bought our first family tent so pitching it is a different world.

Our tent pitches very similar to yours, basically flysheet first and then hang the bedroom pods.

When pitching ours (ok so it was only in the garden the day we bought it) we laid out the flysheet and slipped all the poles into the correct sleeves - ours are colour coded so easy to know what goes where. Once all the poles were in the sleeves we put one end of each pole into an eyelet and I crawled under the tent (yes I do get the glamorous jobs!) to the centre and pushed the middle up (where the two main poles cross), hubby then went round outside and put the other ends of the poles into the eyelets. He tells me this was the difficult bit he had to really bend and push the poles to get them in the eyelets and was worried that they were going to snap but eventually all went in and I was left standing in the middle of a tent - what joy!

Simple then to peg it all out and add the bedroom pods. We will be taking spare poles etc in case of any snappage (not sure that's a recognised technical term ) but I think maybe they should be really taut otherwise tent would be saggy (and possible hubby may be overplaying difficulty so I am happy to crawl through the mud the first time we set up in the rain).

Anyway, hope that makes sense. Any helpful hints you discover on the way would be welcome back. I have just decided not to worry about it too much, from everything I read on this website campers are a friendly bunch and I bet could be "encouraged" to help if they see a few beers on show outside your tent
