You will fill whatever car you've got.

We've got a VW Sharan and fill that and a roof rack.

But, we used to take a frame tent with 4 of us and a roof rack in a Mini!!

Choose your level of comfort, then practice pack. I'm now looking at homemade alcohol cookers for festivals, but a Microwave for family holidays.

Hi Mardiane,  I've taken the kids by myself with sufficient kit in my Yaris, but thats using a smaller tent, one ring stove, just slightly fewer luxuries.  It is amazing how much these small cars will swallow though!

When i used to go to france on family holidays - which was a few years ago. All clothing was put into black carrier bags. We had one overnight bag for the four of us when we travelled to the prynees. no roof rack, no trailer. we took air beds pillows, sleeping bags, cool box, clothing, towels, 5 man frame tent, a folding bbq, 2 ring burner with stand, table and chairs, plus saucpans, utensils and the crockery and more . We fitted it all in the saloon car. coming home was fun as Mum, Sister and 1 where sat on beer boxes.

can't wait to start doing that again.
