My family and i are very new to this camping thing, although i have always loved it (happy childhood memories) we have just bought an apollo 16 and now i am very frightened about how difficult it is going to be to pitch it...let alone pack it away again (seemed like such a good idea at the time) Can anyone put my mind at rest about the tent, or give any tips on pitching the monster?? many thanks
Have you undone the bag yet? My wynnsters have really good instructions attached to the inside of one of the bags it comes in. don't worry, just pick a nice day and have a go at putting it up in the garden/park/friend's garden. It should all go back into the bag again, try and remember how you unpack it in the first place. If not if it's anything like my satellite 12 it's pretty heavy all in one bag anyway and mine came with a roller holdall then an inner bag so you can always split it up and put tent in one bag, poles in the other.
Have fun (don't try doing it on your own first time though, 2 heads are usually better than 1!
we had this tent a few years back loved it,it was our first tent and even on our first trip out we didn t find it to difficult to put up,and it did fold down and actually fit back in the bag even we were shocked, there was only a couple of things i could say were bad points on it,the first was ours didn t have any windows in and the second was because it didn t have a sewn in ground sheet it did get a lot of cold come in but that was all we never had any problems pitching it i think the only site that said it was to big was the haven sites,it was a great tent and loads of room.hope you have plenty of happy holidays in it .
if you do have trouble with the cold air coming under the sides of the tent you can peg down the flaps at the bottom of the fly sheet to help stop this problem. I don't bother in my sattelite 12 though

well, we made it back in one piece...was fantastic!! Was quite a windy day on saturday and trying to get the monster pitched with me and james was really hard! ( asked for some help from a couple of surfers who were busy relaxing.... after the middle bit was up the rest was a doddle!! (even managed to get it back in the bag again!!) The kids were absolutely enchanted with the tent but as motherboard 113 rightly said, it was quite drafty, may get a heater next time!! All in all, a fab weekend, cant wait to go out again!
PS. Stayed at Lobb Fields camping site in Braunton, N devon, lovely place, really helpfull friendly staff. Would recommend it!
thanks for all your help x
