Have looked at the Coleman Columbia 10. Anyone got any views, or alternatives?

Thanks

There are quite a lot of alternative dome tents out there, all with Sig - Kyham/Campus, Sunncamp, Outwell, Vango, Wynnster etc.

For me, when I looked at it last year, the issue was the width of the sleeping pods and that someone had to have the slope side on. At 160cm sleeping pod width, you will be really pushed with 2 air beds (a double would be OK).

My preference (and it is just my preference), would with this style be for the slope of the back of the bedroom to be on people's feet, rathan than putting all of one person under the slope.

I have only just erected mine last weekend and still to use it for a trip (due in 1.5 weeks). However IMHO value for money (£130) as already mentioned, it can't be beaten size for size. Anyway, I'm well happy with mine.

If you're looking for something with three bedrooms and around £200, what about a Lichfield Arapaho 9DLX? http://www.tents-direct.co.uk/show_tent.php?productid=463

It has larger bedrooms than the Columbia, and in 'head to the door' orientation so that nobody gets trapped on the inside with a face full of droopy tent! It would probably  be quicker and simpler to put up than the Columbia. Fly sheet first erection so you won't get damp bedrooms if the weather catches you out when you're pitching. It doesn't have a full SIG but does have a riser groundsheet which does a similar job of keeping out drafts etc at ankle height. MT

We borrowed my mother in law's last year for British Superbikes at Silverstone. We used 2 pods for sleeping (2 couples) and the 3rd for food and drink (lots of drink!) We found it a great tent and are going to borrow it again for World Superbikes at the end of may. We could use our monty 6 but feel the lay out for 2 couples is a bit more private. The only down side (in my opinion) is the sloping bedroom pods, but it is a dome tent after all. Well worth £130. M in law paid £300 12 months ago.

Hi

I'm sure Davedb or Pinkzinfandel will be around soon to add their praises.

If you use the search button to look up the columbia you'll find there's many posts signing this tent's praises.

Must admit, as it's got a sig I'm very tempted myself for use as an early/late season tent where the 'airflow' through my non-sig Quadspace is more noticeable!

And at the price e-awnings have it at (£130) a damn good buy.

Hello

Now that we have got the hang of it the tent goes up in around an hour...camped out in the garden with great success...neighbours asked if it needed planning permission...loads of room and very 'comfortable' feel about it...

Delivered within days for the all inclusive price of £130...very impressed by that service...

8 sleeps until maiden trip though...and cannot wait!
