This is my second plea today, but I am absolutely, totally frustrated.

I have done a search and no-one else seems to have the problem I do, so I am obviously doing something wrong.

I put up my new Montana 6 today, from the outside it looks great but inside I have big, big lumps of groundsheet as if I havent pulled the tent out enough.  If I pull out the groundsheet so it is lying flat then the skirt is about 1 foot off the ground.  The big front door is actually 1.5 foot off the ground.

I have never put a tent up with a SIG before, so perhaps I should be doing something different than if I was putting up a normal tunnel tent.

Please, please any advice.

Mandy

Firstly, you need to check that the ground you are pitching it on is completely flat otherwise no matter what you do it'll never lie correctly.

Secondly, if the flysheet is taut but not overly so, then don't worry too much about the groundsheet being a bit bumpy, just throw some waterproof backed picnic rugs over it and you won't even notice it.

Thirdly, and most inportantly, you must make sure that the flysheet is positioned centrally on the top poles, not squewed to one side or you will never get the groundsheet anywhere near straight.

Never actually had this problem with mine but to be honest I've never had any tent pitch exactly the same twice due to ground being a bit uneven etc. The trick is to make it work for you in what ever circumstance and don't waste your valuable camping time worrying about a slightly out of shape corner or a funky bump under the bedwroom inners.

I get this sometimes, but not 1.5feet off the ground.  Usually just a couple of inches which I can hide by pulling on the adjustment straps.

As above, make sure the fabric is central over the roof poles, this will make it pull on one side if it isn't.  Also, make sure the end guy ropes are not pulling too tight at one end.  The poles should be upright at the ends and not pulling outwards at one end.

I am afraid it is mostly trial and error until you get a system that is right for you.  When I first errected the Montana last year I came up with lots of new words for the dictionary, but now I have a found a method that works for me, it goes up quick and fairly neatly every time.
