I agree with many of the comments posted here. Everybody has a different requirement for the vehicle they buy. We have just traded in our Civic for the new shape Corolla Verso, it's only 4" longer but is absolutely massive by comparrison. We will never use the 7 seats, just wanted a big boot and to be ble to park it in our Victorian terrace street. That said, I have just finished putting a lid on our trailer so I can get 2 bikes on it aswell as one on the roof and a ski box. We felt that was the better option, because 99% of the time is more than big enough. Why pay extra insurance, running costs etc. when it is only a benefit a few times per year.
Hi, We've just recently upgraded from a peugeot 306 (with trailer when on holiday) to a Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi (probably with a trailer again when on holiday!!!) The differences between the two are amazing. We have 3 kids so the wee 306 was getting a 'little' cramped, our 8 month old was in his kid seat, our 3 year old was in her booster seat and our 8 year old son was stuck inbetween the two. He was beginning to look and feel like a sardine. Now we have 7 seats to juggle them between, and 5 seats that we can literally juggle about in the back to whatever combination we prefer. This will be our first camping holiday with the new car so we're all looking forward to it.
We're heading down to Somerset to Greenacres campsite (nr glastonbury), a cool 400 mile trip to get there but it'll be worth it....especially if the wife takes a turn!!!
Hi
I wonder about this as I have an estate car but to be fair the 2 dogs are in the rear , only me in the car its full plus roof box and a trailer .
I went out looking at others cars yesterday no good I need a vito van .
I used to going camping with my 3 kids NO trailer NO roof box in a fiat panda it was the best little car ever never let me down I would have one now except can't fit the dogs in lol
We have a Mercedes 320 TE (Estate) which has seven seats and runs on LPG - it is great, easy to drive, luxurious and the boot is just HUGE when the seats fold down. Apart from the LPG you can pick one up now for 3,000 , Jackie

Yes I had one of the original 4x4 Panda's and it was a super little car - sold mine the week before we had huge snowfall! - at same time my brother had just bought one himself. Needless to say he gloated a bit.....! Mine I used to tow our combi-camp trailer tent no problem.
If I could still get away with just a small car & if they still made 'em I'd have a new one now like a shot. Don't like the new Panda so much though.

We borrowed one of these last year to go to Silverstone (British Superbikes) and we loved it. There were 4 of us plus a columbia 10 tent and just about everything else you could possibly think of. I would love to buy one but I'd probably have to trade my car and the wife in to afford it. (second thoughts, I might be able to still keep my car after all!) We're using it again this year for World Superbikes and taking our daughter too.

If your going to SB at Silverstone make sure you go and see a band called the Po boys they're absolutly fantastic, it'll make your weekend complete.

Hi Crystal jo, this is a great car. But save your cash and get a Kia sedona, exactly the same vehicle but cheap as chips.... There's a kia dealer in Long Eaton that have good deals on most of the time.
When we decided to go back to camping for next number of years - we bought a 1.8 Vauxhall Zafira. Its just the ticket for us. We fold back 2 seats flat to the floor, move up 2nd row as close to front as kids will allow. This gives us a massive area in which to pack all our equipment thta doesnt aleady fit in our tt. Weve not had to leave anything behind yet! Plus being a1.8 version we pull the tt without knowing weve got it behind us, yet are pleasantly surprised at economy especially on a decent mileage journey. We house duvets across kids seats and place coolbox, food etc on their floorspace. Kids think its fun. Not sure whether they will have same opinion when we venture off 400 - 500 miles trek during the summer tho.
Enjoy your camping everyone, the season is well and truly upon us all, so get out there and chill.... Gray
