yup, definitly take the poles out and put them ina seperate bag.  that is a beauty of a tent and im after the montpellier 9, (3 bedrooms, has a back door)  i saw it up at a shop and the 9 was collossal in size!

it pitches inner first i believe so you wont be trying to get all of the weight up at the same time.

Good luck and keep us up to date with how you get on. i would be very interested to hear what your thoughts are on this tent.

Jenhug, we have a Montpellier 9 and it really is very good. I'm not sure if they've changed the design but ours has three doors, one between each sleeping area. A word of warning though (for you and alan+co) - it's definitely a two man job to erect it.We usually put the 3 main poles in their sleeves first then i take off my shoes and go inside the inner to lift all three poles then OH goes round putting the pegs in the ends of the poles. After that it's just a case of pegging out and dragging the outer over.

thanks for that martin, i had only noticed 2 doors when i looked but it had been raining and all the tents in the outdoor display had been flooded so we werent allowed to go right in.

have you every pitched it in the rain??  that is the only thing that worries me being inner first pitching.

i think everything about it is perfect otherwise.

We too have a Montpellier 9, and I can only reinforce all the positive comments,  it really is a great tent. We put ours up exactly the same as you Martin, seems to be the best way.

Yes we had to put ours up in the rain last year. It wasn't torrential but we found a small puddle in one of the sleeping compartments when we'd finished. I guess the inner fabric was damp too but we just left the doors open (and the sun decided to shine then!) so it wasn't a problem.

Glad to hear we're in agreement - i seem to remember the erection instructions being a little vague on the exact details.
