Has just occurred to me - the big front door on the montana is designed so you can pull it out horizontally, stick a couple of poles in it and make it into a porch type affair.  (Sorry for poor description!)  Do you know if the poles for doing this are meant to be included?  There weren't any with ours.

Thanks!

Hi Michelle bought  our montana about a month ago, having checked to see if all of the poles were there to my surprise did notice a pair of porch poles.

As I say, I was surprised as they never appear in any photo's.

Yes, there should be poles for this.  On my Montana 12, the dealer had added some seperate poles ( not originals ) so I am wondering if the initial batch had the poles left out.  I ordered my Montana 12 long before it came out so I must have had one from an early batch.  My Monty4 and Monty6 both came with the poles and they were identical to all the other poles in the bag whereas my first ones were a different colour and type.  I would contact the dealer and tell them.  They should send you some poles.

Thanks everyone.  We're getting a replacement tent some time in June since there was a 'cosmetic' problem with the groundsheet.  (We're allowed to use our tent in the meantime.)  We'll know to look out for the poles in the replacement tent and get some sent on if they're missing in that one too!

Despite having two problems (groundsheet issue and poles missing) with our tent, we'd definitely buy from Outwell again as the customer care has been so fantastic.

Hello John

There are areas on the groundsheet where it looks repaired - small pieces of groundsheet material have been overlaid on the main groundsheet.  After initially thinking it was repaired, since it was brand new, we decided that it was probably just where the material was joined together.  However, I then noticed this thread on a montana 12 groundseet - (hope the link works - if not do a search in tent talk on "montana groundsheet").

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=3&TopicID=65700&SearchPagePosition=1&search=montana+groundsheet&searchMode=allwords&searchIn=Topic&forum=3&searchSort=dateDESC&ReturnPage=Search

After reading this we got in touch with our retailer who called Outwell to find out whether it was a fault or not.  Outwell said that it wasn't a fault but that the new batch that were currently being manufactured had the 'patches' sealed down completely rather than having 'flappy' edges like ours.  They agreed to provide a replacement but since our retailer is currently out of stock they are allowing us to use our tent until the new ones come in.

Although it would have been nice to have a perfect tent in the first place we're really happy with the way Outwell have dealt with it.

Hope your Nebraska is okay!

I think some of the Montanas had them missing.  According to Outwell, all the Montys come with the poles.  I don't think the dealer was actually giving you them for free, he was just giving you what should have been in there in the first place.

Last year, there were definitiely no poles supplied.

Thanks for that Mully, we're not going away in the Nebraska for another two weeks and I've not erected it yet so I'm hoping it's OK.

The reason I asked about the groundsheet is because I have taken the Nebraska out of the bag and it's got those patches, which look like repairs, on the bottom of the SIG too.

My friend has just had Sun Valley 8 delivered and it's got them as well, so I'm thinking they are nothing to worry about.

I'm surprised the were never stuck down in the factory completely because they do have they appearence of a poor attempt at a repair. What concerns me is if they've agreed to replace your tent there must be something wrong somewhere.

If anyone knows any different I'd be pleased to hear.

Best wishes

John

Hi Daddy John

They did assure us it was purely cosmetic and that we won't get wet when we go to Fforest Fields in Whitsun!  I got the impression that they're just bending over backwards to keep their customer's happy!

Hi there

Our new Montana 6 (2006) came with porch poles, and absolutely nothing missing. Also found the tent very easy to erect as me and the wife had it up and pegged in about forty mins in the back garden, and this was with limited space!
