I have been looking at the Sunncamp Vario 900 tents for a couple of reasons. Firstly I am 6ft 5 and I like the headroom.

Secondly, at the moment its just me, my SO and our 1 year old son but we are looking at going away in early September to southern France with my brother. We like the idea of being able to attach extra berths but not pitching them for just a weekend.

Please can anyone tell me if they have one and what its been like. I would also like to know if there are any other tents that would be worth having a look at.

My finger is hovering over the mouse ready to click the buy button!

Thanks,

Richard.

Hi I understand the attachable pods link by velcro and elastic, no zip ... there is some question over the integrity of the pods.

Have you thought of a montana 12, a great tent with excellent space, reviews and headroom !

Hi, we have the Sunncamp Olympic plus which is now called the Mondial 1200, My aunty has just bought the Mondial 900 which is a smaller version but it has loads of head room. My uncle is about six foot 2 and doesn't feel or look cramped in it. They have 3 large bedrooms and loads of living space. There are 5 of us in ours. Definitely worth a look at.

Thanks for the replies!

I have been put off the Outwell tents because of the problems I have been reading about on the forum and I don't like the layout of the tent as much.

The Mondial 1200 looks pretty good. I think it looks a bit more stable than the Vario but there is no integrated groundsheet. Do you find the living space a bit enclosed? How long does it take to put up and strike?

It's good to know the Vario 600 is OK for you as the 900 without the pods is almost identical from what I can gather. How long does it take you to put up the 600 and how stable is it in bad weather?

Thanks,

Richard.

We have only just got our Vario 900 and like you we loved the idea of a weekend tent without the pods and long stay with. We have only put ours up to try it out but are going away for the bank holiday in it so we will be able to report back and let you know then.

Thanks shotty but I have exactly the same cunning plan as you!  We were hoping to grab it in time for the bank holiday weekend and just go somewhere local to put it up for the first time.

I went down to a local camping center today and they had a montana 6 and the vario 600. I think the 600 must be shorter than the 600+ and 900 as there would be nowhere to put the pod entrances. The Vario seemed OK headroom wise and was very light and airy.

The Montana 6 was nice as well, again good headroom and the flysheet and zips seemed to be better quality than on the Vario. There are a couple of potential problems with a 12 though. Does it get a bit dark as the 12 has no big windows at the end and there are no rods running down the tunnel so its just a series of hoops so how rigid is it in the wind?

The Sun Camp was there as well but after reading about the problems others have had I decided to steer clear. Looks like a nice tent as well.

Out of interest how long did it take you to put it up first time round?

Thanks,

Richard.

Richard,

The first time it took about 50mins to put up,but I'm sure you could get the time down quite considerably when you have used it a couple of times. There's only 5 poles to insert into the tent and 2 further supporting poles inside.

Hope this is of some help.
