Hello all,

Can any one advise on the spec of the latest tent on offer in Lidls { form monday 22nd April} They are selling a 5-6 man tent which says in the blurb that it is water resistant 70D 190T rip stop polyester. It also has a hydrostatic head of 4000mm I think this is good but am not sure what the 70D bit is. And what do you canny campers think of the quality/price etc.

Afraid I can't help you with your question but wanted to get shot of your sad blue face. Somebody with a sensible answer's bound to pop along shortly though.

And btw....my son lives in Gillingham in Dorset too! In one of those new builds, (so many of 'em I know!)

I haven't seen the Lidl's flyer yet - how much are they selling it for?

I'm not sure, but I'm going to hazard a guess here ... I would think 70D means denier, you know like the weight of the yarn (as in tights).  But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

Hi

I've just seen a flyer from Lidl, mine had a 3 person (£29.99) and an 8 person (£79.99) tent in and the HH was 2000.

HH 2000 is generally considered OK on here.

At the end of the day they are cheap tents and depends what you want them for. Once or twice a year probably OK but much more frequently then personally I think you'd be better paying a bit more for better quality from a none manufacturer.

No idea what the 70D or 190T is all about.

Jen

Hey Suzy, thanks for the link.  The insulated camping mats look like a handy item - might have to go to Lidl's next week for a nosey at the other bits and bobs.

Mmmm, it looks like D is denier (weight) and T is thread count - so 190T probably means 190 threads per square inch/cm?

I'd agree with Jen, depends on how much you plan to use the tent.  A brand name will cost more, but would be easier to sell on if you decide camping is not for you.

Sorry to interupt, the link to the website shows 4000hh.
I also noticed that it's only available in certain areas, which is a shame.
I'm big fan of Lidl/Aldi, always worth a look.
The pies are good too!!
