I made a huge mistake of camping in early March last year.  It was cold but not 2 damp, it was my  Campus Harvard Delux Tent first ever outing, i was unable to pack it all back in the rediciuosly small bag that it came in and instead put it in 3 bin bags in a dry cupboard.

Now im thinking i using the tent in June this year but theres nowhere big enuff to errect it to make sure its all good.  Would it of done any harm putting the tent in2 bin bags then in2 a cupboard?

Im hoping my £130 investment wasn't a 2 night wonder.

Is there any reasonably priced tents £50 Max that can sleep 2 people and have room to stand in?  Only thinking of using it during June/July/August time.

I'd say your mistake is putting it in binbags as all the moisture can't escape IMO.

Hope someone can help you better.

If the tent was dry can't really see a problem with it. If it's a nylon type material even if slightly damp would still more than likely be ok, will just need a bit of a clean if any mildew & perhaps a spray of fabsil. Mildew doesn't attack modern fabrics so much as say a canvas tent.

If the tent was bone dry when you put it away then I can`t see the problem. If you left the top of the bags open then even better.

If it was damp or wet and you sealed the bags up, then there`s every chance it`s gone mouldy, sorry, especially the inners.

Open the bags and have a good sniff. No mouldy smell? Take it down the local park or scrounge the use of a neighbours garden and put it up. It doesn`t take long to put most tents up if you`re not pegging out. Inners can be washed in a washing machine if they`ll fit, btw.

Next time, air your tent out after you come home and roll it there. I roll my big tent on the floor of the local community centre! There`s no harm in carrying bits of tent round in bin bags though as long as it`s dry, dry, dry! If you`re really restricted for drying space then keep that in mind when buying a tent.
