Just a thought about all these remote control lanterns...do they all work off the same signal? As in, could you walk down a line of tents with a remote control and turn on/off everyone elses light?

Just looked at the Lidl site...The RC camping lights are only available in the SW of England (except Glos and Hereford).  No good for us up in the wild North then, typical, I was fancying a couple of them.

Discrimination! How dare they!

(Wonder who made that decision? Probably think us tough northerners don't need fancy things like remote controls? Or light? Note they are supplying us with chemical loos, though - next year they might give us ones that flush?)

No, they seem to be individually set (though how many lanterns have the same code is anybody's guess!)

We bought one some years ago, a Coleman I think. It had twin tubes and was a beast - almost demanded its own seat in the car! Tubes lasted about two camping trips and replacement costs were prohibitive.

I can tell you what one NOT to buy - Argos Rechargeable  35 LED's around £35 - totally hopeless - I doubt if it produced 1 Watt! - Took it back for a refund.

OMG my son read this and is now wearing an evil grin! I think I will have to keep an eye when we go camping this year now!

We bought an electric hook-up last year and a garage light that we could hang down from the frame - worked a treat and we were also able to get a small fan heater from Argos to keep out the chill. Would never go camping wothout them again - we are not all season campers[;)]

Forgot to say that I had never thought about taking the solar lights out of the garden, but they would be great for the kids during the night. Cheers for that tip.

Solar light out side as a marker

Gazebo lights on the gazebo-very cozy

inside hubby made a bulkhead light with a switch we hang up

Kids have army style torches that you can change the colour of.

Various battery operated torches, the best one came from the £1 shop!!! Cost £2 for batteries though!!

Just been to our local Lidl - no Lanterns at all, they are supposed to be doing one that's not got the remote control, but they didn't even have any of those in stock.   I'm not to disheartened though, as I'm gonna get a remote control one from Argos tomorrow. My daughter and I were having a discussion (and a naughty chuckle) last night at the dinner table about going round the camp site and trying the remote on different tents. (not that I'd dare to really) Glad I'm not the only one who has naughty thoughts though.
