Hi and welcome Lisa - on the whole I would advise to stay away from the tents on Cyber-checkout..........as a complete camping nerd I have scrutinised their ads and quite often, in VERY tiny print, they give you the water proof rating ( which really should be no less than 2-3000mm) and often it is only 1000 or less. (This is a measurement used with synthetic fabrics, of the height of water that can stand on the patch of fabric until leakage occurs). They have always had very mixed reviews on here, and I always wonder what the after-sales service may be like ifyou have problems.

Stick to well known makes like Vango, Gelert, Sunncamp, Khyam, Royal, Aztec, Outwell, Wynnster, Coleman, Easycamp, (there are lots of others I am sure but me brain's gone blank) and you should be alright. It is important to get out and see some tents for real too - it can help you get a better idea of the things you need to consider in terms of layout, construction etc and to identify what the priorities are for your needs.

And as for your earlier question about site costs, these do vary quite consdierably as there is no consistent method of pricing - some places charge a basic rate for tent, car plus 2 adults, and then add extra fees foreach extra body, others do it differently, some charge less but then you find you need a suply of 20ps for the showers etc, so you need to check out what is coverd in the pitch fee too in order to get an idea of what you are getting for your money.

But don't worry - as you can see there is lots of help to be had to usher you into the fantastic world of camping!!

Hi Lisa, have you seen this one

It will not be too big for most pitches as it is a rectangular shape

It's only £99, but I paid £150 a couple of years ago in argos sale, reduced from £200

It's very quick and easy for 2 people to put up.

It has storm flaps all the way around to keep the draughts out.

it's very good height, no bending anywhere , even in the bedrooms.

The living area is a good size, plenty of room for tables & chairs , fridge cooker stand and all the rest or your stuff.

It has a huge bedroom which has a dividing curtain down the middle, it will take 4 double airbeds and still have room round the sides.

A big storage area at the back of the tent, keeps the living area clutter free ( we used to keep a bucket with a lid in there too,  for the toddlers, saves trekking to and from the loo block all day.)

we've used it some very bad wind and rain and it was warm, stable and cosy.

Hi Lisa,

I can also recommend the vancouver 10 man tunnel tent that Beefy'smum as given you the link for.We brought it a few weeks ago and found it so easy to put up and thats coming from camping virgins.

Although we havent actually used it for holidays yet(we use it whitsun weekend) we have pitched it and it has plenty of room.It would definatly give you loads of room.My hubby is 6ft 2" and had loads of headroom.

Good luck with your tent search.
