Please can you help, last year a friend of mine, ask me and my family (me, my husband and little boy age 3) to go camping but when i saw ther tent it put me off, it was a two man tent and really old,
A few weeks ago, we were out on a day trip when we past barretts of feckenham at measham, i fell in love with this tent (montpellier 9 made by royal)
The problem is we have been camping but it was many years ago with a group of friends and we did not take anything with us not even a knife and fork, which put me off,
Please can you gave us same advise on what we need to take with us from tents to knife and forks, this would be really helpful
Thanks Claire and Mark

Hi Claire & mark, welcome to ukcs.
Basic things you will need are
beds : airbeds & pump,on special offer in tesco at the moment, or foam mats or camp beds.
Sleeping bags, pillows.
Cooker & gas, either a 2 ring burner and gas bottle or you can get a single burner suitcase type which takes disposable gas cannisters, On offer in woolworth for £15 . A table to put the cooker on, also £15 at woolies
Table & chairs - the folding table with chairs attached are around £20 most places
Plates, cups - plasic sets of 4 for 69p in tesco
Pots & pans, cutlery, take the ones from home or get the value range of nonstick ones from tesco or asda about £3 each.
A light, battery or gas lantern, unless you are going for en electric hookup lead.
Bucket with lid, saves going to the loo block in the middle of the night.

Hi Claire, We mostly have the stuff designed for camping, our pans for example were quite expensive, as were our sleeping mats, but they are things that don't take up much space. We use poundstretcher cutlery (stored in a fabric roll designed for make up brushes!), plates and cups. Originally we had airbeds, but after we lost them (roofbox, M5, not a good day!) we bought thermarests, an investment but we knew what we wanted by then. This is our 4th year, and we have just gone electric. We started out with the bare minimum, then went for a weekend, then added to it. You don't need to spend a fortune to get started, but you will want to change things - its a bit of a hobby this camping lark!
------------- All the best,
Alison

Hi, my tip is Poundstrecher for tiny gas cooker- 9.99, hardly weighs a thing, and Argos for pretty much everything, and they deliver to your house. Warmest sleeping bags you can get, and a hot water bottle, and one of those kingsize furry blankets you can buy in markets with naff pictures on them, very warm and cosy. For the first time pick somewhere with good facilities and a town nearby so if you dont fancy cooking you dont have to, and dont spend a lot on brand names if you can help it. There are nice light kettles in Ikea, but just as cheap in camping shops, and best well used cheapie last year was one of those toaster things- metal circle with 4 wires- for 2.99- that fed a bunch of people last year breakfast for nothing as they brought their own bread and 5 kinds of jam.
