Given this weekends forecast, has anyone got any tips for keeping warm - during the daytime as well as at night. I'm a bit worried that if the kids wear too many layers they will also get most of their stuff wet..
Thanks

A good set of waterproofs, will stop them getting their clothes wet , and plenty of thin layers, fleeces are good because they are lightweight and dry out quickly. But they are bulky.

Oh nooooooooo, I couldn't cancel, so its raining, that adds to the fun of it, theres nothing better than snuggling up playing cards for coppers, or telling the kids stories, the looks on their little faces lighten up my day.
lesley - up to Pitlochry - it'll be a cold one though but I think we have wet covered - (famous last words.) not going to let it get us down. Anyway we'll have electric so the fan heater will come in handy but I would like to get out and about .. OH is trying to find all his old base layers - he thinks I've thrown them out / given them away to charity shop

We just couldn't cancel the kids have been counting down for the last three months. Hazel's got it off to a tee 'we're going camping, not tomorrow, not the next day, but the day after that'. We didn't have very good weather this time last year and it didn't stop us having a good time. In fact there's nothing like an empty lovely sandy beach with a bit of drizzle and your waterproofs on.
Long shorts and wellies are better for kids than trousers in the wet...saves all the flappy dangly hems getting wet. Wool socks, thermal vest (M&S) long sleeved t-shirt, wool jumpers, fleeces with hoods and hats. That`s what my kids wear anyway, with waterproofs on top if raining.
I find wool jerseys far warmer than any synthetic sweater, though fleece is still best as a top layer. Wool can absorb a lot of moisture before it feels wet, and even then it still keeps you dry. Big oversized ones from the charity shop are great on campsites! (Yes, my kids look like total scruffs, but they`re warm.)
halogen heater is great for the night to keep warm + fleecy tv blankets,we look like someone who should be in a nursing home, but you're certainly warm.kids will be kids,my always insist they are not cold, but are ready for warm towels and clothes re;halogen heater.plus these are safe they have a safty cut off if it gets knocked over.I paid £11,god send
