Hi there, wonder if any of you knowledgable peeps out there can help me?? We're off on our first trip this weekend to face the rain ....... my OHs motto is 'Your skin's waterproof!!!'  My question is ......

We've bought a diablo footprint groundsheet to protect the tent and on laying it out I'm wondering whether the pegs go straight through the inner pods and the groundsheet together or are they both pegged seperately ?????

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks, Tania

PS: Fantastic site, have learnt soo much with so many hints and tips just can't wait to get going !!!!!!

I hadn't heard of the foot print until now!!

Did it work and what does it do? Does it keep the mud off the base of the inner ground sheet?

We have had a problem this time with ours in that the inner tents ground sheet leaked (not much) through the seam along the middle! I e-mailed Vango and they are sending me some seam sealer.

If you do a search in the message boards you will prob find the answer quicker than waiting on replies.

I have heard the fottprint GS are great, spread them out, peg them down and pitch your Diablo on top, keeps the SIG nice and clean. Then all you need to clean when you get home is the footprint.

I am waiting on delivery of mine for the Diablo 600. Using it next weekend so will report back if no one else has.

Have Fun

One way to find out would be to roughly peg the footprint down first - which you probably need to do to stop it flying off down the field - and then when you position the tent on top you should be able to see whether you can reuse a groundsheet peg to do both jobs or if you need a second peg.

Does that make sense? MT

Thecampits,

Is the footprint a wee bitty smaller than the SIG of the Diablo? Or does it come out beyond the SIG?

I was wondering, if the footprint is down and pegged, then when you come to peg out the tent, do the pegs go straght into the ground or through the footprint GS?

Hope that makes sense...

Well firstly let me say that WE SURVIVED OUR FIRST TRIP with 2 very eager boys of 5 and 2yrs !!!! We had a fab time .....

The GS was a different matter, though!! We pegged it loosely down hoping that the inner tent would be slightly bigger or would fit exactly. But no, it seemed that our GS was a good few inches bigger than the inner tent which then meant we had to do some folding of edges so that we could get the inner tent pegged down. This was a real pain and OH wasn't too happy !!!

Couple of good things about it were that yes it protected the inner from mud so packing away was great but it was also good as a template to where we wanted the tent put. Gonna have another go at it in the garden to see if we could've done anything differently.

Only other slight problem was that due to the horrendous wind (outside of the tent) we had in N.Ireland over the w/end our lovely new Vango windbreaker SNAPPED !! Got on the phone today to be asked  'Was it windy maybe that's why it broke' ..... !!!! Now fighting to get a replacement!!!

Apart from all that we've booked another long w/end at the end of June....totally hooked now.

Any more feedback on the GS much appreciated as the idea in principle is great!  Anyone else snapped a windbreaker ?????

Thx
