been a welshman that went to high school on the hill and cant read five pictures instruction could anyone help me.I bought a coleman bispace 400 brand new off the internet at a very good price but i just cant get to grips with the instructions .It has four poles which i understand where they go the question is do i thread the four poles into the tent then put it up or do i thread the two long ones in the living compartment first and put it up then thread the shorter ones into the sleeping compartment any advice about putting this tent up i will be very grateful thank god for this site
I have a Coleman Michigan 9 (pitches inner first due to SIG) and I slide the poles for the living area and get the OH to go inside and raise the poles so that pinning is made easier then I insert the bedroom pod poles and Bob's your uncle.
Although your tent is different the principle is the same (I guess?!?!?) I find that the material for the bedroom pods is loose enough to allow the threading of the remaining poles without too much difficulty - weather dependant (of course) and state of sobriety!?!?!
Someone posted the following from Coleman 2 years ago year.....my tip is to loosen the top canopy straps and the corner straps a bit...this makes it easier to get the poles in the locator holes...
I have the 400 and it's a great tent....good luck
As requested, please find the following hints and tips
for the above tent.
1. Ensure that all the zips on the doors and porch
are done up before
starting.
2. Lay out the outer tent flat on the ground, so
that you are able to
see all the pole sleeves. The poles are colour coded
to the relevant pole
sleeve.
3. Assemble all of the poles and lay to one side.
4. The 2 long black poles need to be inserted into
the diagonal sleeves
with black taping and they will intersect each other
in the centre.
5. Put all the other poles in the relevant pole
sleeves (according to
colour).
6. Do not put the ends of the poles into the
eyelets until all poles
are in the sleeves (the tent should still be flat on
the ground).
7. Then put the main cross-over poles (black
poles) into their eyelets
(this will be a bit difficult for one person but it is
possible), if there
are two people get opposite ends of one of the long
black poles and push the
pole up into an arc (it will feel quite heavy as all
the other poles and
fabric will be supported by it) then put the ends into
an eyelet (either
eyelet will be fine).
8. Do the same with the other long black pole, you
should now have a
dome shape in the centre with the other poles hanging.
9. Insert the other poles into their eyelets.
10. You are now ready to peg out the tent.
11. Peg out the main dome (2 black poles) first to
give you stability.
12. Then peg out the rest of the tent using the
guy ropes to give
tension.
13. Hang the inner room(s) into the main tent,
again the toggles and
eyelets are colour coded so you should be able to get
the bedrooms
positioned correctly.
14. Peg out the bedroom(s).
Place the additional PE ground sheet in the domed area
and peg out.
Wow - I can't believe my luck. I only found this site yesterday, whilst researching 3 way fridges, but I'm browsing the messageboard for the first time.
After much research I bought a BiSpace 500 last thursday and friday night found me on a beautiful Dorset site, struggling deperately with my new aquisition and the rudimentary (to say the least) 5 picture 'instructions' Welshrover mentioned. They appear to suggest almost the opposite of the Customer services instruction Martin posted!
Should be of help next time, many thanks.
