We had our 1st outing of the year last weekend in our new monty 6. Our destination was Silverstone to watch the world super bikes (which was great by the way, and the women loved it when James Toseland through all his kit, including helmet and leathers into the crowd, leaving him to ride back to the pits in his boxers.)

The campsite had been bombarded with lots of rain before we got there and resembled a grassy swamp. Thankfully we took a cheap tarp to put under the SIG which was the best thing ever. When we packed up, all we had to do was fold the tarp (which was thick with mud) and put it in a black sack to hose down when we got home.

All in all we were really impressed with the tent but I'm still a bit worried about the porch pole which appears to be too long and pushes onto the tent. I aired the tent when we got home and had lots more rain again. I checked the tent this evening and there was a small amount of water inside, under the point where the pole touches the fly. There's no hole, but I wonder if the water is being 'pulled' through the fly as a result?

Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone tried shortening the pole? Sorry about the essay and thanks for any replies!

We spoke to someone over the weekend about the porch pole, he had replaced the original pole with a flexi pole and it looked to solve the problem. So we are off to buy a flexi pole.Although we didn't really have a problem with ours, better to be safe than sorry.

We have also used our Monty 6 for the 1st time this weekend and noticed that the porch pole was extremley tight.I have to say we thought about shortening the pole, but I reckon a flexi pole sounds like a good idea.

Mind you can't complain too much as our tent was coping with the winds a lot better then most.

Yep, the deltas are really worth their weight! The ground was so boggy they just pushed in. I saw so many other tents with standard pegs which had pulled out, and it wasn't really that windy. (any commission greatly received mr. Delta G A)

I'm now really glad we chose to invest in the front porch too as this was a life saver on the saturday when we had about 6 hours of heavy rain.
