Dont think I will be going for the idea of the red cross on it tho as I am north of the border and heard enough about football to last me a lifetime already!(And yes I would feel the same if -ha ha- Scotland were in it!)
HI SNOWY,HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE VANGO TRAVEL PILLOW IT COMES IN A STUFF SACK AND IS FLEECE LINED ON ONE SIDE AND POLYESTER ON THE REVERSEWHEN YOU SLEEP ON IT IT KEEPS YOUR EARS WARM AND RETAINS ITS SHAPE.WE GOT OURS FOR £5.OO EACH FROM GREAT OUTDOORS ON THE OLD CHESTER ROAD WIRRAL BUT IAM SURE THEY ARE ON SALE EVERYWHERE AND THEY FIT GREAT IN THE SLEEPING BAG AND TAKE VERY LITTLE SPACE WHEN PACKING(NO NEED TO OBSCURE THE REAR WINDOW WITH PILLOWS ..GOOD LOOK AND HAPPY TRAILS ....R.B.I.A.T.
Ok I know this has already been mentioned but felt I had to add my own bit.
We stow our pillows and sleeping bags in the JML vacuum bags.
When at home the air is removed with the hoover, but find that the valves on the bag are the wrong size for both the pump and the car vacuum (dustbuster type thing), so I sit my 18 stone frame on the bags and lift the valve to expel the air. This reduces the space taken up by the things filled with air.
You do have ot be careful about ripping the vacuum bags though as they tend not to work if ripped (haven't quite worked out why this is yet)
------------- We only go camping to see what we have forgotten and what we need to get for next time. If only we could remember where we put the list..................
stuff them in the roof box with the sleeping bags or buy cheap ones and donate/chuck them after.we used to stay at presthaven sands a lot and used to go to the excellent pound shop next to kwik save in prestatyn-pack of 2 or 4 cant quite recall but usable all the same. lynles

last year I tried the half sized camping pillows and they were great. Just as comfy as full sized ones and four of them take up less space than an ordinary one. For four pounds it`s worth getting one just so everyone can try it out. You never know, you might love them too.
Put the pillows on the rear parcel shelf, it also stops the sun on the back of the kids neck that way, or stuff them under the front seats or even if the cars big put one between the door pillar and front passeger seat.

I used to be exactly the same about taking pillows...then last year I tried the half sized camping pillows and they were great. Just as comfy as full sized ones and four of them take up less space than an ordinary one. For four pounds it`s worth getting one just so everyone can try it out. You never know, you might love them too.
We tried these for the kids after reading Val's previous recommendations on here. They were excellent, didn't fall off the sleeping bags like full-sized ones and the kids loved them. Also tiny when packaged - a real bonus. Just one thing, we are taking (adapted) pillow cases for them next time, to keep them fresh. I know it says you can wash them but our previous experience of washing pillows means they usually end up in the bin as a twisted mass!
Thanks for the tip, Val, very useful indeed, as were the Vango Aspen bags - comfy, warm and easy to package up again.
Saying that, if I was going away for a few nights, say 10 or more, I would probably jettison the pillows in favour of more essential stuff like extra towels, then just buy cheap ones when we got to our destination.
Yes, that`s the type I have...except one`s a Campus version from about four years ago. Lots of different makes, and all much of a muchness.
You don`t need to adapt pillow cases for them, btw...they fit crosswise into a standard pillow case and the excess just folds round. But my kids like the fleecy side so I just hand wash them every so often. No problem with lumps yet.
