Hi, could someone advise me on the vango vista tent. Am looking for a new tent and this looks favourable, i know its huge but need plenty of room for family hols, home and away.
Have a budget of £300, and theres 3 of us, but want loads of room, and a good head height in the bedrooms is also a must. Any recomendations are appreciated.
Hi Clare, and a warm welcome to UKCS - this is a great site so prepare for lots of friendly advice ( and a few laughs too!)
I like tunnel tents for their space to weight ratio & head height throughout, and I like Vango who are reliable and respected makers. The Vista now has the new riser groundsheets too which will cut out more draughts etc. Tunnels are easy to put up, but do need pegging well as they rely on guying for stability more than other shapes do (get yourself some Delta PEGS!! - do a search on these boards to find out more about this fine invention)
The 800 will be HUGE for 3 of you - I reckon you could wander round inside and not bump into each other for days... is this OK or don't you like each other ??!! (Only joking)
Ta much for your advise, need as much help as i can get.
The size is mainly to do with our 6 month old, as he comes with travel cot/pushchair etc.so really need as much room as we can get, also would quite like to take a cple of friends once we're up and running (if ever!!). Will go and look into delta pegs, and thanx again for your help.
If you would like this tent there was one for sale on the free adverts think it might be available although it is not shown try TheGordons2003 at aol.com.
They have a nearly new one they have just bought a folding camper
We bought one last year and love it. We've got two small kids, so last year had the 8mo in a bedroom in his travel cot, and then the 2 1/2 year old in the main bedroom with us (we had 2 double air beds in there). This year we're hoping that we'll be able to put them on one airbed in a bedroom, and we can have some space (and privacy) in the main one, but if it doesn't work out then we can all fit in together.
The Tension Band System gives a bit more reassurance as well when its windy. Only downside I would say is the amount of time it takes to put up and take down - especially if you've got young kids to amuse at the same time, but you'd have that whatever.
We bought last years vista 800 (our second vista) and we love it - 2 kids now aged 12 and 10. Just come back from Cornwall with it and can't wait to go again to France in July.
You won't regret buying this tent, it gives you so much room and is very stable (with TBS) for such a large tent. Hope you enjoy it,
We were all set to buy the vista and then went to a tent show today at Tatton Park and saw the Montana 6 which looked really nice and a bit smaller, now we're really confused. There's a big price difference £400 for the Montana6 inc. canopy and the vistas only £299 and its much bigger. There are only 2 adults and our son 6mnths (inc. all his gear), but we do want plenty of room. Could someone give some much needed advice?
hiya, ive got this tent, but the 2005 model which i like better than this years as it has a porch. we took it on its first outing last bank holiday... it was blowing a gale and poured with wind, but the tent was brill the tbs system seemed to work really well... well it didnt blow down! it is also really easy to errect, im really glad i brought this tent!!
