Hi

We are currently looking at a weekend tent for 2 people. We already have the Wynnster Mercury 9 which we are happy with for us and our 2 children but is too big for 2 if us for maybe one night away.

We are looking at 4 models as follows

Wynnster Mallard 4

Vango Gamma 450

Campus Sherpa 4

Coleman Bispace 300

Any thoughts and advice on any of the above or alternatives would be gratefully received.

Regards

Neil Cheshire

I can't comment on the other 3 but we had a Campus Sherpa 4. Nice tent but not tall enough to stand up in. We have now got a Sunncamp Ventura as a weekend tent which we are really pleased with. Quick to pitch, tall enough to stand in and has a SIG.

I would strongly recommend the Vango Venture 500.  I believe you can get them for around £84 now!!  Fantastic tent, 2 bedrooms, plenty of porch space, side door too.  Packs away into a small suitcase size bag and easy peasy to put up.

That's what we use for our weekend tent.

If you are happy with your current Wynnster Mercury then I would stick with the brand you know and obviously trust

Kyham freelander. It is what I use for bike rallies. Easy and quick to put up, decent sized living area which you can stand up in and generous sleeping area.

No groundsheet in the living area (not a concern of mine) SIG in bedroom of course.  Just nicely made and I am delighted with mine. It was also lovely and cosy in some nasty weather.

Khyam Yale is a great tent but maybe a bit too big if you are looking for a wee 2 berth tent. The Yale has a great living area, easy to pitch in 20 mins.

That said, Vango is a superb make. Well finished and reliable

I've a Vango for trips of 2 and over nights and a Yale for the weekender trips.

You also might want to consider Outwell Azizona L or its even lighter sibling version the Robens Valley Lodge.

Friend of mine has the Robens and we have used it together regularly - is a fine, very well built tent that is small and weighs b*gger all.

We've just got a Suncamp Pathfinder. Its 4 berth but easy to put up and does the two of us and the two dogs.  It pitches inner tent first and has a built in ground sheet.

I have only just seen this tent in pictures - which looks very interesting (nice living space)?

What is it like to pitch? Why did you choose it?
