Hi,

I need advise please, I am going to take my 3 sons camping this summer. As yet we don't have a tent though because I can't decide or find one I think is suitable.

I have upto £150 to spend, I would like a sewn in groundsheet, 2 bedrooms (if possible) and here's the killer, I need to be able to erect it myself as hubby not always able to get away.

The last time I went camping tents were very different !

Can anyone help me please ?

thanks

How old are the kids. Cant they help put up the tent? Its all part of the fun.

The Outwell range are a good bet. They have a great website. Check them out. We like our Colorado but not a SIG. (Perhaps the Montana range will suit) They are easy to put up, once the poles are in place (Which can be a bit of struggle at times) You anchor one end and then the tent just pulls up.

Tight criteria, especially a SIG based tent for around £150.

You might be better off starting with a tunnel type tent (generally I find them easier to errect), with no SIG.

(not a tunnel!) My friend got his Vango Aurora 600 for £125, which has a SIG and two berooms at each end - it does require a little help for one person however.

How old is your oldest child? Even my 6 year old can be helpful.

Hi spanielsgalore and welcome to UKCS. We have the Kyham Yale. It has a sewn in ground sheet, twobedrooms and lots of space. Easy to erect in about 25 mins. Possibly able to erect on your own, haven't tried it so don't really know. Great tent though, might be worth having a look at.  How old are your children? You would be suprised at how helpful they can be even at a young age.

Hope this helps. Happy Camping.

Hi,

Thank you for the welcome

My eldest son is 6 yrs, hadn't thought about getting him to help. I will have to have a few practice runs with him.

We went to a camping exhibition today and one of the salesmen recommended the Kyham Yale. He thought I would be able to get it erected alone, would take me an hour though. I have been looking online for a good deal on one.

Now have to checkout tunnel tents before I buy (thankyou BigBunny!)

Re the khyam yale, look for a campus yale, which is what they were called last year, and £99 not £150. Same tent, Different colour, last year they were green/ khaki.Khyam and  campus are the same company. Try putting campus yale in the yellow search button, to find links as to where you might still get the 2005 campus model

Ok we have decided to go with the Khyam Yale. I have been searching with Yahoo and can't find a Campus yale.

Any one know of a place selling it ? I like the idea of getting the same tent 50 quid cheaper !

Tents on Ebay, I asked a tent seller a question once and never got a reply so that put me off. I did spend some time searching through the listings but they seem to sell for more than you can buy them elsewhere, what's that about ?!?!
