We are fairly new to camping and have just bought a vango Colorado 600dxl. It came so easily out of the bag that I felt certain it would return...but after folding and squashing it just wont go and we have resorted to a black bin bag just to keep it all together!

Does it really go back in the bag ? and if so how?

feeling smug here. Just returned from hot weekend camping in my new Campus Sherpa 4, and I managed to pack my tent away back in its bag on my own!

hi ASC,

the tent is as good as we thought and MORE  . LOADS of room and we even ate in the porch one night as it got a bit breezy and there was plenty of room for our large fold up table and four chairs .

It went up really easily and quickly , the longest part was folding the tarps to fit underneath. We are going to cut them to size for our next trip though so it won`t take as long . I would say it took us an hour to put it up and pin it down, and it will take even less next time, as we now know that the red poles should be attached to the middle pins and not the outer ones, if you know what I mean.

We got it back in the bag no problem  after the mobile carry on  and we cant wait to go off in it again. It really is a fabulous tent and doesn`t disappoint in anyway, I would totally recommend it to anyone wanting a large family tent with plenty of room to spread out in.

When do you spend the first night in yours then ASC? You will have to let us know how you get on and what you think of it, you won`t be disappointed though.

Hi beezers really glad you had a good time, thanks for that puts my mind at rest you are never really sure what a tent is like till its been tried end tested we dont go away in ours properly untill end of  july! but i think we will have to give it a try somewhere before that, its 2 months away and thats to long we are all ready for a break, will make sure all mobiles are safely in our pockets,i bet the air was blue for a time there but what a classic that was!

Hi ASC,

yes that will be a story we will tell for many a year and one we will never let our son forget!

You will love the tent, we couldn`t find one single about it we didn`t like, it`s just, in my daughters words, AWESOME .

We weren`t due to go anywhere again until August 19th when we go to York then onto Skegness, but we loved the tent so much we are now going away again on  29th July, well hopefully if OH can get weekend off work. No idea where to yet, probably to Lowther Show near Penrith for 5th and 6th August and somewhere on East coast for a few days before that.WE just want to get away in the new love of our life as often as possible .

I am sure you will become as addicted to you XXL as we are, and just remember to check all mobiles are safe before you start folding it up!

If it makes you feel any better I have done something equally daft. Last year I packed everything away and had a nice neat pile all ready to load onto the motorbike when I realised I could not find my bungees. It dawned on me that I had put them in the tent pockets for "safe keeping"

Ever tried to get into a Kyham without letting on what you have done? I didn't get away with it. I had to put the flipping thing up again so I could get my bungee cords out.

Redfaced is not the word. Especially as I was smug due to having packed up first

hi we have a vango 700 dlx so a big tent my husband takes the thing down and i pack it away starting with the outer tent have it flat on the ground then fold in half then again till you have a straight long line well as astraight as is possible, then start at one end and start to roll it up real tight making sure all the air is out just keep rolling like that till you get the end and the tent shopuld be the right size to fit your bag.

OH does stand for Other Half as opposed to BH which is Better Half, but that`s me in this house!

OH works a funny sort of shift pattern where he works 7 shifts in a row, the last shifts being night shifts, then he has one full day off (first day off is spent sleeping after night shift), then starts his next 7 day rota. Sounds bad but he likes them as it means at the end of the third 7 day rota he gets 10 days off. Basically he works 3 weekends out of 5. The bonus is, during school holidays we can get away for quite a few nights when he is on his 10 days off .

The tarp idea we picked up off a post on here and it`s a brilliant idea, as when we packed the tent back up, the SIG was nice and dry so we didn`t need to dry the tent out.

We are now debating about whether to go to Flamingoland with the kids, instead of York and Skegness as we think in the long run it would work out cheaper keeping the kids entertained.

Wherever you go ASC you wil love your new tent, we can`t wait to get away in ours again.
