Hi,

I'm looking to buy a gazebo and was wondering, do the mesh sides keep the wind out and are they as warm as the gazebo's with solid sides?
Thanks

Would have to agree with wildie's post above. We've just brought a Sunncamp Day Room and used it for the first time last week - bloomin' brilliant it was, too.

Also, I think that there are some campsite owners that won't accept gazebo's purely on the basis of how much damage they can cause if they get blown over by a gust of wind....

Just got back from a bril week in Dorset!! going back again soon.

I back up Wildie / Vonnies comments - We've got an Outwell Oklahoma day tent which is solid as a rock in windy conditions - but a group camped next to us last week had a garden gazebo, all nicely pegged down, but a moderate breeze lifted it up and it was flapping around in a frightening way and started demolishing one of their tents.  As the group were out for the day I dismantled it before it could do any more damage.   When the family returned they thanked me for taking action but then straightened out the bent poles and put the damn thing up again !!   Thankfully they left the next morning.

Moral of the story ?    Get a day tent !!

Oh, the mesh sides of the Outwell are fine enough to absorb most of the wind, letting enough through for ventilation (we cook in ours) - just roll the covers down when it's wet.

I bought a coleman shade lodge gazebo last year for camping...excellent peice of kit and has been well worth it and is a porper bit of camping kit that can be pegged down in multiple places (not like rubbish garden ones).
Pretty difficult to find over here now I think i got end of stock in shop i bought from. They do a screen lodge aswell with mesh sides but i never actually managed to find that over here, so just went for the shade one.

We put our wind breakers around it and it gets cozy enough with a heater going inside it. Plenty of room for 6/7 people sitting round a table in the evenings.

On the basis that I've got a mesh sided gazebo that was bought mega cheaply for camping last year.....I have to agree with all those above!  Collapses at the merest sniff of a breeze, leaks round the seams, and rains through the mesh - it would really. OK for a weekend in really good weather but apart from that I'd say don't bother!

I have the hexagonal gazebo with mesh sides from argos - bought for £25 in sale 2 years ago. Once pegged down properly no problems at all, even with high winds. Just got back from a trip locally, very windy indeed, there was slight movement but nothing to get worried over. I decided to anchor from centre point of roof of gazebo to floor with guy line attached to spare delta anchor - NO movement whatsoever. Another family had one of the green gazebos and had to take theirs down as it was likely to take off over the fields. I can recommend this to anyone, keeps most of the rain and wind at bay. In driving wind, some rain comes through the mesh but I've got that sorted by buying seperate sides which I attach on the inside ( 2 for £10 in my local tesco). OK they're not green to match gazebo but at £20 each for blue ones, who cares about the colour. Dont let it put anyone off from buying this if they can get a good price - I think its brilliant.
