We are think of getting a new pushchair for ou 13 month old baby as we find it hard to get our prsent one (maclaren techno classic) in the car with all the camping gear and it is hard work to push round on the grass. We have looked at the Quinny Zapp but the seat looks so small and out little girl is tall for her age. I'm looking for something that will go well on grass ect and fold down small. spent an hour on sunday in mothercare putting them all up and down but couldn't find one we liked. what do other people have? and what works best for you all? don't want to spend to much as it will be 2nd pushchair mostly used when camping

we bought ours at index (but I think they went bust) it had huge wheels which was great for grass, it also had a shooping trolly underneath, and it folded flat,

I would go for big wheels

I had a Maclaren umbrella fold one which I used for camping when the babies were young and to keep in the car for when they got older and were still a bit unreliable about walking everywhere. All my kids were big and tall and they all fitted in it up to about four years old. It had a five position seat and five point harness and lots of optional extras like rainhood and cosytoes.

Other huge advantage of an umbrella fold buggy is that you can strap it to the roof bars if you have them. Easy to get to on stops and doesn`t take up space inside the car.Don`t leave the rainhood on the buggy when on the roof though...it would act like a parachute.

Hi

we have this one from Toys r us:

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/bruhome/brutravel/brutravelbruin/316326

or they do it in blue:

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/bruhome/brutravel/brutravelbruin/013838

It is a great buggy fold up umbrella style is great on grass and my 3 yr old still fits in it no probs and i am sure you would get an older child in it so would be cost efficent too.

It is really sturdy and robust, has 4 sitting positions to laying down, 5 point harness, and quite light weight.

Toys r us do somee nice ones that are a bit cheaper too but i have not tried these so cannot comment on them.

I also brought the additional rain cover and hood for £14.99 from toys rus which matched the buggy (i.e blue or pink trim depending on what buggy you buy).

If your current Maclaren Techno XT won't fit in the boot with your camping stuff, then very little else will unless you go for the Quinny Zapp which folds really small - however, the seat is small and I got one when my son was 11 months and didn't think it would last him more than a few months - so sent it back. In the end we got the Maclaren Quest Sport - which is very similar to the Techno XT but is a little smaller. Not worth you changing though as it's useless on long grass.

If you go for the larger wheels which are great on grass - you will prob have to leave your tent at home!
