I'm going camping with 7 friends in July and we are looking for a particularly cheap 8 person tent. We are situated in Scotland and if anyone could recommend one or maybe even sell us one 2nd hand I love to hear from you.

Hi Callyt

My one piece of advice would be dont get an 8 berth tent for 8 people. When tent manufacturers give a number of berths to a tent they must judge it on how many midgets they could squash in. For 8 people you need at least a 10-12 berth tent!

Also, at some camp sites you might find that the owners won't let that many people stay in one tent. You may have to take a couple of tents and get pitches near each other.

We have the Vancouver 10 and it is ideal for 8 people (it says 10 but would be too much of a squeeze).

The bedrooms have sig and you can have it as 2 bedrooms or as one big one.

Has a really good living area (we are able to fit in kitchen unit, fold up table and chairs plus 2 big chairs) and there is still loads of space left for storage boxes etc..

Also in the back behind the bedrooms is a big storage area which you could also use a loo or changing area.

At £99.99 it is only £12 / £13 each to chip in!

It is a lot bigger than photos show below approx:  (6 metres x 4 metres)!!

I love ours and think it was a really good bargain buy,

I reckon you would be better off getting 2 smaller tents and shoving them close together ,maybe with a cheep gazeebo or something bridging the gap ? ( if its not going to be windy that is )

Echo what the others say about not buying an 8 person tent for 8 people.  I've never met any of the vertically challenged people that the tent manufacturers use as models.  Reckon that you need 1.5 to 2 leprachaun berths for each normal sized person.  Also - don't forget that 8 people have gear for 8 people - and it mounts up.  If I took 7 clones of my partner along, we'd need a couple of Transit vans for all the clutter.

Hi cally, the vancouver will accomadate 4 double airbeds easily and have plenty of room for storing your clothes and gear. I have had 10 in mine when my teenage sons and their mates descended on us unexpectedly. Only for 2 nights though, thankfully.

Great if you are all just friends and don't mind sharing a bedroom. But No privacy if you are romantic couples.

if you are a group of youngsters looking to club together for a tent for a cheap holiday, go for it, you won't get one that size cheaper.

Buying two tents will mean having to pay for two pitches

If you do need something with seperate bedrooms, have a look at the special offer tent section here

The columbia might be okay if  two slept in the living area. but there are bigger ones

on there if you can stretch to the extra money. These tents are about half price, last years models.

Don't be tempted to buy something new really cheap off ebay, without asking advice here first, a lot of people have and found that they're not waterproof.

Second hand frame tent or two may be a good option, you sometimes see Arubas for around £250.00.

Take care

Rik
