Can anyone give a bit of advice please. We have a Vango Vista 600DLX and love the tent.
HOWEVER during a couple of heavy spells of rain - water has pooled on the roof - mainly on the porch section which does not have a steeply sloping roof. Has anyone else had this problem? Are we doing something wrong when pitching. OH is concerned roof may leak in time if this becomes a continuing problem.
I can`t help with pitching advice as to this particular tent, but I can tell you a quick fix. You`ve got a set of awning poles for the Vista, yes? Slot together a few of the NON-SPIKE sections, put a plastic cup over the end to protect the flysheet and use that to support the roof at the dip. I have to do this with my flat-topped kitchen tent in heavy rain and it works a treat.
Just read Val's reply, and can tell that if u havent got the awning poles, u can buy adjustable ones from Decathlon for £7.95. Maybe as val said put some plastic cups on the ends to protect the flysheet your problem will be solved.
Thanks for that Val and Missy. Definately worth a try especially at night when I would be lying in bed listening to the rain. If there are any other Vango owners out there with a Vista DLX I would still be keen to hear if you have this problem also.
Maybe I should just hope it never rains! I can hope can't I !!!!!!!!
we noticed this last year with our 800 version, but just wrote it off to the fact that it was very heavy rain, and we hadn't had much experience of putting the tent up, so didn't know if we'd got the angles quite right on the porch.
We did just push the water off when we realised (not quite doing Valk_Scot's solution, but similar principle!), and it does slide off too if you shake the tent enough...
The rain pools on ours as well. It doesn't seem to be a pitching thing, although we have definitley got better at that over time, we just push it off, its not caused us any problems yet!
Oh, and it comes of by itself every now and again when the wind blows. I wouldn't worry to much.
Thanks Alison. that helps - at least I now know its not the way we are pitching. During the day its not a problem as we can easily just push the rain off, but might have to resort to the pole if we have heavy rain at night.
If I get chase later I might send a quick email to Vango to hear what they have to say. Will let you know if I get a response.
