Hi cs56,
after reading the thread with your fabbie waffle iron, I went straight to eBay for one but so far so bad - a horrid stuck mess :-(
Can I get some advice on how to make them as good as yours look ?
Do I need to 'season' the iron before use ?
Do you use a yeast based recipe ?
Do I oil it for each waffle ?
How thick should the batter be ?
How much batter to use ?
does it ooze out and make a huge mess ?
Can you open it before they are done or only at the end ?
Sorry to bombard you with so many questions, but I need waffles and all I have so far is a messy kitchen !
Thanks,
Alison
Had a major waffle session at an outing a fortnight ago; goodness knows how many waffles but the mix took 2 lbs. of flour. Only one sticky mess, the first. Same thing - iron not hot enough!

Just read the camping trip diary properly - I was entranced, what a fabulous setup. It has a classic simplicity, but is very sophisticated at the same time. Not sure I should let OH see it though, he often speaks wistfully of a more spontaneous way of camping without all the stuff that makes it seem like home but with less space, he'd be chucking out the EHU before I know it !
