Further to my earlier post about Gelert, I have today had a telephone call from their national sales manager, who couldn't have been more helpful.  Unlike some companies I have dealt with in the past he was prepared to accept responsibility for the tent on behalf of Gelert, and never once suggested that it might be our fault.  He was surprised that we had a problem, and was more than apologetic for the length of time it had taken for Gelert to make contact.

The outcome....my faith in Gelert is restored and I got a very good deal on a Lokon Vario 5, which will arrive next week!  I can't wait.  Breezeblock, if you read this, I might need to compare notes!!!

i got mine direct from Gelert, and I don't feel I should say how much I paid, but if you have a look at Waudbys or Bucks Camping you will find they were about the cheapest - a little bit under £200 including delivery - RRP is £260.

Am glad to hear it. IN the past they have been very good with a problem I had, so I pleased they are continuing their excellent reputation.

Shirlandy, glad you got sorted and all credit to Gelert for the way they have handled your problem.

I don't get on the forum as often as I used to, but if you have any questions just ask away and I'll reply when I can.

Hi Wilkins76

We bought our gelert from Y-Warws their shop is next door to Gelerts factory tel no. 01766 890416 and they sell the gelert tents I think they are gelerts outlet shop?  They do mail order and we paid £150 for our alaska 8 off of them plus £12 p&p which is cheaper than have found anywhere on the net so maybe worth you ringing them they might have the Vario in their summer sale.

stewy , we bought the gelert utah last week and used it last weekend in all the wind and rain , we bought it because it looked easier to put up than our coleman columbia for a couple of nights away. we only paid £100 for it at e- awnigs shop, united british caravans,

anyway, the pitch we had at the weekend was very exposed and to be honest it stood up very well to the gale force winds and rain but one of the poles at the back bent at the joint but it was the back of the tent that bore the brunt of all the wind , but these were extreme conditions, other tents were blowing down around us , but  ours stayed up ! the rain was horrendous and we did get a slight leak at the back but like i said , this was the way the wind was blowing  and it was blowing the rain at it

overall we were impressed with this tent , very easy to put up ,took us about 20 mins from start to finish, very sturdy cos of the steal poles .it has six doors and all the poles if you wanted them all propped open,so is very versitile ,suitcase style 3in1 bag which made packing away easy, only downfall it is a bit on the heavy side because of the steel poles , .

well worth the money we paid .
