I have a Daxara trailer and would recommend it . I have used one for years now when camping and it is fine. Not sure about the price, although I did see one in Halfords today for about that figure. Make sure that the price is quoted as ready built as some companies supply the "flat packed" self build version ( unless you want to build it yourself of course). Also, buy a spare wheel. It is well worth the extra.

Good luck

Having three older teenagers in a family of five I heeded the advice on this site and bought a daxara 158 (roughly 5x3). Looks huge in the garage but when we loaded it for the first time with all our gear it too became apparent that we would still have a tight squeeze. My advice therefore is get a bigger trailer than you expect to use as you will always fill the space.

We now have the trailer with a raised ABS lid and a roof box on a large 406 estate.

Hi

I personally would never pay that sort of price for a trailor, whatever the make. If you are a bit handy with the old DIY, I would look for something that is ample big enough and a little bit larger that needs a bit of TLC. Have you checked out e-bay 5ft x 3ft trailors in reasonable condition for around £50 to £100, I have 2 trailors a 5ft x 3ft and an 8ft x 5ft which I am renovating and it will still come out cheaper than £249 to do both from front to back.

So my advise is have a look round, check out your press, auctions, etc. you never know and you might even get a real bargain, and the money you save will either pay for site fees or get you more camping gear.

 Steve.

Steve, good advise if you can make one / renovate but unfortunately my skills don't run that far... I had a look round but ebay often came up with the one I wanted costing more than Halfords new...!

Just happy to pay for a pre assembled, 100 % guaranteed with comeback, galvanised model.. its amazing how these things seem to hold money on e-bay..!

Hi Redz

I understand, I am sorry as well as I keep forgetting I did 3yrs joinery which helps me out. Its just that it seems such a lot of money for something about 4ft x 3ft, maybe its just me, I hope you do find one that will suit all of your needs, and I hope also that you manage to get one at a real bargain price.

I wish you many years of happy camping, whatever trailor you get.

Regards

 Steve.

Would strongly recommend the Caddy 535 (5x3½). Only takes a few hours to build from flatpack. Found Machine Mart the cheapest at £277. Don't forget you need to take your vehicle registration document when purchasing a number plate.

Hi steve, no worries, wish I had the skills but alas my top trick is probably beans on toast on the bbq !!!

Mylo, have a look at the attached for a number plate, save a lot of hassle and a few quid..!

Hi

I also have a Daxara 127 which I purchased second hand from a local rag for £80, it was in almost perfect condition.

I also had a caddy which I sold as I kept breaking the rear light clusters, there was no protecters for them and I do store the trailer on its edge.

I picked up a fully galvinised 5 x 3 trailer with a locable lid on e bay for £ 72 so my advice would be keep looking in both this and your local paper / free adds as you can save yourself a fortune.   The equivilant new Erde trailer with lid would have cost me over £ 400.00

Hi Mac4

I have just bought a caravan so our trailer is surplus to requirements. It was a trailer tent some years ago but the tent part was no good so I removed it and used the bed bases to raise the sides which makes it quite a big trailer. I also installed a new floor and had a waterproof cover made for it last year. I am guessing the size is L8 x W6 x H3. If you are interested I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme so I am guessing not too far from you.

Pete
