Hi, just wondered if any of you out there can guide me.

I have been looking for a frame tent (reliving my childhood!) for myself, hubbie and 4 kids. So far on my shortlist are the Cabanon Espace and Sunncamp Grange.

Has anyone got these tents (or any other recommended frame tent) and can give me pros and cons for each? Can't make my mind up and hoping it will be used for many years to come.

Oh, by the way, just starting out, so will be our first camping experience!!

I haven't got either of these tents so I can't really coment on them.

However I have got a marechal frame tent brought 2 years and I really like the extra space a frame tent seems to have compared to dome tents.

Hi

It is all down to how much you want to spend, cabanon are top quality and obviously the more expensive but most frame tents are of similar quality so you will not go far wrong whichever you decide to get.

cheers

A Cabanon fan here.  I love the Espace 8 and we are deciding whether to get a trailer and an Espace 8 or a TT.

We already have a cabanon Montpellier which is huge but not quite as big as the Espace. My only concern with the Espace 8 is whether or not it would be too big for some pitches - havin said that there are TTs that are bigger. We have alwayd hot our current frame tent onto a pitch but a few times it has been a bit of a squeeze with the car etc.  I like the look of the layoout of the Sunncamp Grange. Given the choice I personally would go for the Espace8 because its a Cabanon and thats the make I know and have had no probs with. Saying that Cabanons are certainly pricey although considered to the Rolls Royce of the camping world you have to decide whether you are happy to pay the extra for one.

Sunncamps are very popular and I amsure some owners will be along to tell you that they have no issue with their quality.  Have you looked SH?  A SH frame tent can still last you years and years and sometimes youi et some camping kit chucked in for your money.

Hi

I have a Sunncamp Palace which is similar to the Grange but slightly smaller.

I am very happy with it, have used it for 4 years with no major problems. A few of the spring links between poles have broken but they can be replaced easily enough.

Other than that it has kept us totally dry and is very stable.

The biggest problem is the size and weight of it when packed up. That is probably the same with any frame tent but think carefully about how much space and weight you can carry

Tim

Hi guys,
Well thanks for all your help (great site for us rookies by the way!). As you've all said the Cabanon was more expensive but the decision was made for me when I managed to get a 2 year old Sunncamp grange for £250. Bit of a bargain I thought! Exactly the same colours as yours oor wullie! So very happy . Or at least I will be once I've tried it out and reassured myself that I've made the right decision!

All I need to get is a ground sheet. Any ideas where I can pick one up for this tent. Can't seem to find one big enough.

Thanks again!

You can get a big blue tarpaulin from B&q for less than a tenner. That's what i used when i had a frame tent. Does exactly the same job as the green or black groundsheets you get from camping shops for a lot more money. and it will match you tent too
