Hi Guys, just returned from my second camping excursion on Angelsey (sp?) with the wife and 2 nippers.
A wonderful time was had by all and I what a friendly bunch campers are....

But the big let down is the tent, upon taking it down we noticed the sleeves for the black poles had torn where the poles cross each other and oneof the bedrooms has a hole in it where the plastic has ripped between the black peg loop and the tent itself.
I have also noticed on the sleeve fabric signs of wear, tear and stress (the fabric has gone a paler colour and looks thinner).

I must stress that we have erected this tent with nothing but the upmost care and patenice, with the point of avoiding these kinds of problems, on average we take our time and have it up in about 90-120mins, all unpacked etc, we followed the scant instructions and the tent has gone up very smoothly, but Im just not happy with the build quality.

One thing I did notice was the rods caught an awful lot of the time on the alu connectors when inserting and removing the rods.

Has anyone else expercienced problems like this, and how do I stand on getting a refund or replacement seeing as we have only had it 8 weeks and erected it for camping twice (we have erected for practice purposes)

I really want to maintian the camping but feel let down with Vango.

Has anyone had similar problems

I would contact the retailer. You may have been given an ex demo model which explains the wear and tear. My previous tent was a Diablo 400 and the build quality was excellent. There are hundreds of happy Diablo owners on this site.

I e-mailed Vango re a problem with our 600,

I asked them who I needed to speak to (them or suppliers) - sorted straight way no question and no need to contact anyone else.

We haven't had that problem, will check again on it's 4th outing in 2 weeks and it's 10 months old not 8 weeks!!

We had to get our Diablo 600 replaced (used 5 times - water seepage/leaks/quality issues). Contacted Vango, who told us to deal with retailer, which we did.

Took tent back, replacement couriered to us (£10) in a fortnight. Nae probs.

Hope no issues with new one, since we won't be having a test run before hols in mid-July. Looking forward to seeing new porch design in 2006 model.

-------------
Given the choice we would rather be camping.

We have just returned from Wales and have the same problem with our Diablo 600, in that where the blue pole crosses over the two black poles, the sleeves had worn down and on one side there is a hole. The winds were 60 mph, so i put it down to the constant slight movement of the tent over the two days of high winds. This was our first time out in it though and i am expecting to use it many more times, so hope the ware is not an ongoing issue. If you contact Vango, could you post how things have gone.

hey all have the same problem what did you do about it i'm thinking of sticking something over the tears to try and stop it getting worse. While we are here do you peg the inner tent down through the metal rings or through the straps because i was wondering if its through the strap it might give it 2 much movement causing the poles to rub against each other

when we first got our diablo 600 last year just before or hols we emailed vango and asked them where pegs should go , through strap or ring, they replied through the ring, strap was for holding onto while you got the pin in place

our diablo is also showing signs of wear at the cross over points.

sound like it could be a design fault I think your idea about sticking something on the sleeves at the crossover points to reinforce them sounds like a good idea, we are off on our hols next week can't wait  only our 2nd year camping but we love it and the diablo is a brill tent loads of room.
