hi just got my hartford xl delivered, hoping to try it out in portpatrick soon, only thing is, i really like the look of it, but not many people mention them.
Please, i need someone to tell me they really like theirs, or not, if thats the case,
Hi Lornev, Lots of people mention them, look here. For what its worth i like it, I helped someone put one up on site last year, not the xl, just the L think, a bit smaller, with 2 bedrooms, very nice tent.
Being the nosey kinda gal, I've spotted loadsa members with that very model mentioned in their profile. Sounds alright to me, but hey...I'm a tin tenter(With a certain emotional attachment to tents)
We have a HArtford XL 2005 and I can guarantee that we really LLLUUURRRVVEE it!
Never tried anything else mind, but it is so cosy and dry in the cold. We camped at Easter with snow on the ground.
But you can open the front and back to let a through draught to keep it cool in the heat. In fact, we are just going to get two spare porch poles so we can have the canopy up front and back when we go to Cornwall for 2 weeks in August.
There are only 3 of us - 6 year old daughter. but we tend to haeve friends to stay and have had 6 in it in the pouring rain. 3 adults and 3 kids, loads of space.
Looks like you got it for a bargain price.
Please note that there was a thread on here about the 2006 version and apparently it doesn't have hooks to attach the topsheet, but I think the instruactions might still describe them
Happy camping!!

Hi Lorrney, Don't have the Hartford XL, BUT I WANT ONE! lol, When we deicded to try camping for the first time, this is the tent I had set my heart on, but simply couldn't afford it as couldn't find it for less than £300 , so went for the condor 6+.
Plan to use the Condor this year, (first trip planned for August) and hopefully get the Hartford next year, Can't believe you got it for £209 !
my minds put at rest you all like it. i havnt has it it unpacked yet as its too big for garden, but il look out for that with the hooks. I got a friend who works for milletts to order mine, thus got a nice discount.
Il let you know how the the trip goes with it, two adults, one toddler, and two large hairy mutts. Hope to get some pictures for profile that weekend.
I saw the Hartford XL at a local camping shop today and it is really nice. I really like the addional canopy, it has sides that go down to the floor (unlike the canopy on our Monty) and it is massive. It looks like it would be ideal for cooking under.
The tent sounds ok from what i've read on here, so go forth and have a great time.
By the way Hippy Chick, if you is one of them there "TIN TENTERS " why are you on here and not on the tin tenters section???????.
I bet you like the people on here best.......you do dont you...come on now admit it....we are nice people on here, NOT that there is anything wrong with the tin tenter bridgade.
Whatever you camp in always remember we are all campers, and show each other respect and offer a helping hand if ever needed.
i was tempted to order the canopy as well, but thought id wait till i saw the tent up first, i figure the tents about 24 feet by 16 approx. Will i be allowed the canopy on a pitch as well as this?, think it adds on another six feet?
Ps thanks beefysmum for the link, had missed some of them when i looked, (feels much better now)
Hi we have both the 2005 XL and the canopy ! This a great tent, the quality is fantastic there is lots of room but snug at the same time.. it does take longer to put up than a tunnel tent but it gets better with practice. We use just two pods as bedrooms and the third centre pod as storaage for clothes coolbox etc .. the canopy hs room for the camp kitchen (yes we cook in it ) and quite a few adults sitting in the evenings.
As I said the only down side is it's not as quick to put up as say a Montana.
Enjoy your tent.
