Hi there! I am not a novice camper but whilst searching for a campsite to go to I noticed the term EHU mentioned. What is it and do I need it. My husband and I camp in a tent and we love it!
Electric Hook Up - basically an entension cable with a trip switch, so you can run your cool box, kettle or TV if you wish. Some people won't camp without one others do quite happily - just a matter of personal preferrance
E.H.U. is 'Electric Hook Up' on sites where E.H.U. is available (most of them nowadays) you can use an elecrical lead (cost between £40 and £70 dependent on number of plug points, available at most camping stores) to enable you to have electricity in your tent (or caravan)... Should you wish to, you can run a kettle, heater (for Spring/Autumn), lighting, fridge, radio or anything else electrical, within reason...
Thank you all for your replies! What a dunce I am! Guess i'm just not used to seeing the abreviation. Different tack here- where is a nice campsite on or very close to the beach either in North Yorkshire or Northumberland?
Hi Tina 74, Sorry I can't help you directly, but have you tried typing the name of the area you're looking at into the "Camp site search" facility at the top of this page. You should find lots of very good and very honest camp site reviews there
