Hi,

Does anyone have one of these tents? It's on our short list as its' got the 3 bedrooms we want, plus loads of living space.

Can anyone tell me if it is a bit dark inside with only the windows on the porches? Also at 750cm x 650cm is it too big for some sites or is this the norm these days?

Hi we don't find ours dark inside but we have only had 2 weekends in it and its quite bright out in the summer. we do find the space handy not to bad to errect we bought it new for £121 worth every penny, hope this helps,I'm sure more people will give you better advice.

The tent is massive, have not camped yet but had to pay for a pitch at a site to put it up because of it's size. My husband says it's like the millenium Dome, u can park the car in it. We have a site in Newquay booked at no extra cost, as long as they know beforehand the size they will make sure they have a big enough pitch. Don't know about the light from the windows as he put it straight up and then took it straight down, just to make sure everything was there.

Can't wait to try it out.

Hi there, not sure if you have brought your tent yet, but just to say that we have a Mercury 9 Excel and it is brill. We bought ours last year at the end of the season and used if over the bank hols.  It was fairly easy to put up, thanks to tips from other campers on this site.  We put it up again last weekend and it was easier! It is making its first trip to France in a couple of weeks and have been told that it is fine - size wise.  The mesh on both ends do make it airy and if like us we have an additional annexe tent for kitchen stuff it does make the space inside enourmous.  Have fun.

I bought the Mercury 9 Excel, 2006 version, last week.  Fantastic!

Used it for 3 nights at Croyde, N Devon, including one night of heavy rain.  No problems (except we only had the mesh door closed, so the rain came in on the groundsheet)!

Relatively easy to put up (and will be easier next time - having learnt one or two things).  V quick to take down, having pointed a dark cloud and the imminent possibility of heavy rain out to the family!  Also managed to get it all back in the bag, helped by the storage strap for the main tent, and the compression straps on the bag.

Some extras not mentioned in the bumph: loads of storage pockets in the inners, plus a few in the living area (several makers use these as a strong selling point, Wynnster doesn't even mention them), spare poles etc.

No problem with light inside.  We didn't take the covers off the windows - I thought the plastic windows would only add to the heat inside - but still light enough.  The mesh doors help to keep it cool, especially if there is a little breeze.

Inners are not full height (for me, 6'2") - they are probably about 170cm. Living space is cavernous and plenty high enough.

Pleased I made the decision.  Recommend anyone to go for it.  Enjoy.
