Hi Rob,

Welcome aboard and happy camping as they say.

I think you are very sensible to put the tent up a couplke of times in the garden. This will help greatly when you come to do it for real on a campsite.

I have a Vango Aspen 700 which took a little time to learn to erect. WW3 nearly broke out the first time I tried to do it as the instructions are a little unclear. Well that's my excuse!!

There are serveral treads on this site about erecting the 500 so you might want to have a read of them.

Good luck with it all and may the sun shine on you if not always then at least when you are putting up and taking down your tent.

Nice tent, have fun.

My daughter, unlike my son, was originally a softie, but now is totally up for coming with us.

Update on our Camping

Just got back from Reighton Sands me and 10yo lad, went really well 1st day edge of cliffs very windy which scared us to bits, then lovely weather great site 7 tents there Friday morning 70 Sat Morning.

Trying to talk some other members of family into going next trip maybe a weekend local before kids holls start.

We can put tent up & down better now without shouting at each other and got some ideas for future trips, lists were great.

Welcome Yorkirob. Great idea camping in a group, its good for the kids to go off and explore , and cause they are in a group, you will be relaxed about letting them go. Hope your girlie can be persuaded to come along, show her the photoes of what she has missed!
