Hi

I want to make white roof linings for my Lichfield 7dl tent but I need some advice.

What fabric should I use?  Do I use inner tent clips to hold lining in place, or do I 'drape' it over the poles?  How could I incorporate a toilet area between the bedrooms?  Do I need to cover the whole of the tent roof or just the living area?  Shall I put frills on the edges and make curtains to match?

So may choices - I need help!

Many thanks in advance

Jackie H

Cotton sheeting fabric for the roof lining, in a pale pastel colour, keeps the tent light .Forget the frills, but matching curtains sound nice if you need to replace them anyway. You may even find it cheaper to buy king size  duvet covers in the sales and open them out than to buy it by the metre. you do attach them by rubber bands and inner tent clips, don't drape over the poles or you will have problems with rain seeping in. ours had roof lining just for the living area. if you have a space between the bedrooms for a toilet area, how about a shower curtain?

Our ceiling liners just cover the living area. Don't forget that you'll need clips down the centre of the roof lining to clip it to the centre pole, otherwise it'll droop down in the middle.

You could add a curtain sewn onto the roof lining for the toilet compartment. Make sure there's a clip on each side of this, and add rubber bands for pegging at the bottom (with a centre zip entrance if you wish).

The frill is usually only across the front of the bedroom pods to cover the gap between the top of the pods and the roof.

Ignore Wildie   What does a man know about curtains?    I think matching curtains would finish it off nicely

Hi

So glad you women understand.  When I'm away in my tent it becomes my home.  Last hols I went out and cleaned my windows - home from home.  I have often mentioned net curtains (only for a joke).

The shower curtain idea for the toilet area sounds good.  One thing I did think was to pitch bedrooms as far apart as possible then put toilet in the middle, then make a sort of hanging storage which covered the whole of the gap between the bedrooms, and incorporated the frill to hang over the jap between the bedrooms and the roof.

Many thanks once again.

Jackie H

I would quite like a roof lining for my tent too. Does it have to be pure cotton sheeting or would polycotton do? I think as the roof of my tent is dark blue it might make the inside seem abit lighter. It has a valance but no liner.
