Looks like it's going to rain tonight so thought I'd get the tent up for the first time to se how to do it and also see if it's water tight.
I won't tell you how long it took me to put up the easy to erect Khyam 200, but lets say I hope to get a LOT quicker ;)
Ok onto the dumb Q's
1. How the heck do you tie those funky little bundled knots for doing the guy ropes back up?
2. Oh this is going to sound soo dumb...How are you supposed to use the guy runners, the little plastic bits on the guy to tension it? It dosn't seem to matter how or in what direction I try and pull the rope through to tighten the guy the rope just won't move through.
3. In the Khyam manual it says not to use guy runners on the main guys to tension the guy it is pegged out....ok so how do you get the right tension? Are you meant to repeg them to the correct tension once the tent is fully up?
Ok thats enough dumb Q's for now.
Oh yea, looks like the airbed I bought is rather bigger than the bedroom, but will see tomorow.
1. With the knot, either learn how to tie a bowline (see below) or use a figure of eight - do a normal knot, but give it a twist before the final thread.
Ok, just been out and put the bedroom in and tried the airbed (queensize intec) and it fits perfectly..yay :)
Also tried tieing a guy up and thats fine as well.
In a week or two I'm going to stay at a local camp site for 3 days midweek to make sure I've got everything sorted and pick up all those little things I just know I'll forget. Feeling a lot more confident about that now.
Out of interest whats the size of a standard pitch as I didn't realise how much space yout ake up once the guys are out, and I assume you have to park you car on the plot as well?

...........Rikk
Nope this is not a dumb question. I have been a camper for 20 years and I STILL have to go through the routine my dad showed me on my first tent, when working out how to pull the guys through the runners on a new tent.
I hold the runner in a vertical position, with the knot of the guy at the bottom and facing away from me, then I know it is the LOWER part of the guy rope threaded through the runner, which will be on the side of the runner facing me, that I need to pull into a loop to put the peg through......
