Hello!

Can anyone share any experience on this one?   are the bedrooms totally separate or is there access between them?

We're looking for:

3 bedrooms
porch would be great for buggy, cooking etc. and also a shady space to sit/kids to play
living space with good size windows so it's light in there
not keen on complicated-shaped ones like the diablo as we'd like the kids sleeping right next to us if poss then we know what's going on!  (and they look hard to put up!!)

we've also been looking at the sunncamp oasis 700 but prefer the vail's detachable canopy in case we're short of space in some places and the movable front wall looks an interesting idea.
also looking at the Indiana 8.
Are there others we've missed?

cheers!  E

That wasn't meant to happen.

Bedrooms in the Vail are completely separate. It's a great tent. We have a problem with ours in that it leaked and therefore has had to go back but prior to that we were really pleased with it. Just be aware that it is a really big tent, which makes for fantastic space inside but reasonably hard work to get to that point.

We very very nearly bought the Vail, stopped only by the fact that one of our adult(ish) daughters has now decided also to join us on holiday hence we need a fourth bedroom (so have decided to take the frame tent with additional inner).

To be honest, we then read a post on here which stated the Vail had taken a very (very!) long time to pitch, so we were a bit concerned at that.

That said, it is a good shaped tent, plenty of living space and excellent bedrooms. I'm pretty sure that, with practice, pitching times could be entirely reasonable but this is still a tent which has to prove itself (and still think those window canopies are a bit silly and have read reports that they fill with water, rather than deflect it from the windows!).

Ambmo3's account does not inspire confidence, so we are sitting on the fence on this one!

Good luck in your decision!

yep. the pitching thing does bother me - we watched the video on the vango website last night and had a laugh!!!

Do you think the outwell indiana and sunncamp ones will be a lot quicker?  the process on the outwell video looks simpler although it's a bit deceptive looking at that.

our problem is we're trying to make the tent do too many things - enough space for week long hols for our family and any extras coming along, but quick enough to bother pitching for a weekend on smaller Swiss campsites.

Oh no, I have this feeling we're gonna be saving for a second small tent for weekends next year as well!!!!!

cheers for the replies - any info is gratefully received as larger tents are few and far between over here and the only one there's a slight chance we might be able to see in real life is the indiana if they'll pitch it for us!  hundreds of mountaineering tents but not much by way of family tents.

I have a vail . The last tent we had was a Campus Brekenridge 6 man. (same as a Vango Diablo 600) The Vail is huge but easier and faster to errect than the Campus. two of us can get it up in 30 minutes now (used 4 times)

Best tent we have ever owned (we have owned at least 6)

It is a frame tent with out the weight , smell or faded canvass
